The name of the shop, Moonstone & Mist Bookshop, is inspired by Redondo Beach’s unique history with moonstones and the mist that frequently rolls in from the ocean. My little sandwich board works hard for me and this morning she has a beautiful view of the ocean and the mist caught in little pockets around the peninsula.

Moonstone & Mist Bookshop started as an all genres for all ages pop-up bookshop in Redondo Beach in October 2025.

As you can see, we have a little bit of something for everyone!

We have loved being a pop-up and will continue to pop-up at our favorite events and to let our community know we’re here.

Our community partnerships are why we have been offered the opportunity to grow into a brick & mortar shop.

Starting in September, we will be sharing a space with BlendzUP Acai & Coffee Bar in the Riviera Village in Redondo Beach.

We love this amazing community and are so excited to be Redondo Beach’s neighborhood bookshop!

We’re working hard to make this a cozy space where you can relax & read, meet authors, attend workshops, bring your kids to story time, write while you sip coffee, play games, and so much more!

We are doing a fundraiser to help us start strong.

We had such a lovely night making resin cutting boards while discussion Diving Into Dreams with author, Szilvia Gogh. I love these events so much! I come in with a list of questions about the book and the author’s experience and everyone just jumps right into the conversation which is exactly how we envisioned it. Thank you, Szilvia, for being our guest tonight and for bringing beautiful ocean-inspired bracelets for us. Thank you, Hammer & Stain Beach Cities for hosting us and teaching us how to work with resin! I highly encourage reading Diving Into Dreams if you like to read about bad ass women with amazing careers overcoming hardships and achieving their dreams! “We are more than just our books!” I have loved hanging out on the beach every other Monday with these—and many other—book lovers! There’s still one more Monday for Silent Reading on the Sand. We will be back at the beach below Miramar Park in Redondo Beach on Monday, August 31 at 5:30pm. All readers are welcome!
