I posted a new blog today that's a little more revealing than usual. It's about what this past year has really looked like behind the scenes - the hard parts, the quiet progress, and the small ways I'm learning to breathe again. If any of that resonates with you, I'd love to share it with you.

This year has been a hard one — the kind that rearranges you from the inside out. I’ve been healing from years of hypervigilance, finally discovering that ADHD plays a role in how my mind moves, and navigating a body that hasn’t been feeling like my own. I’ve been working with a therapist, a...

🌳 Just finished turning this walnut dish/platter. For now, it’s set aside to dry — and honestly, the next step is out of my hands.

I’m hoping it warps into a beautifully organic shape. But if it cracks, I may turn that “flaw” into a feature with an inlay — maybe turquoise or another stone to give it a new kind of beauty.

That’s what I love about this craft: every piece has its own story, and you never quite know how it will end. 🌿✨

👉 Stay tuned — I’ll share what happens as this one reveals its future.

🌳✨ A gift from the storm…

A couple of weeks ago, a mighty wind toppled an oak tree into a beloved walnut, breaking off a huge branch. Thankfully, the walnut survived. My dear friend—knowing my heart for “rescuing” wood—reached out and asked if I would help this beautiful branch live on.

Now, this walnut carries not just the story of the storm, but also the love of the one who’s tended it. I feel honored to give it a new life in my shop.

Keep an eye out… soon it will be reborn as bowls, pens, and other treasures—each carrying the memory of resilience, friendship, and the quiet beauty of walnut.

🌲 New in the Studio: Wabi Sabi Redwood Bowl 🌲

This one-of-a-kind hand-turned redwood bowl is now available.

Its story: once a redwood tree growing in a man’s yard, it had to be removed when it encroached on his utilities. A longtime friend of my neighbor brought me three large chunks of that wood, and the insects had already shaped their part of the story before it reached my hands.

Now, turned on my lathe, it carries all those layers — tree, insect, friend, neighbor, and maker. In the spirit of wabi sabi, it honors the beauty of imperfection and the grace of change.

✨ 10” wide × 3.5” tall
✨ Redwood, natural insect markings
✨ $95

If this piece speaks to you, it’s available now through my shop:

🌿 FINDING PRESENCE IN THE EVERYDAY 🌿

Lately I’ve been noticing how much the little things matter — gestures, rituals, even the pen you reach for. When it feels good in your hand, the ordinary (like journaling… or even bill-paying) can carry a little extra calm and pleasure.

THIS WEEK I ADDED 3 NEW HANDMADE PENS TO THE SHOP:
🚙 layers of Jeep Fordite — automotive history turned into a pen you’ll want to show off
🌲 spalted wood with flat black metal — raw and grounding, you can still feel the wood beneath your fingers
🌿 light wood with flat silver — clean, minimal, and airy, both physically and visually

Each was turned with intention in my quiet workshop — carrying a presence that’s grounding, light, and a joy to use.
Take a peek 👀 — maybe one of these will meet you where you are, too.

✨ NEW ON THE BLOG ✨
Behind the Scenes at KnotWright: Learning to Share the Soul of the Work
For years, the hum of the lathe and the scent of freshly cut wood have carried me. But lately, I’ve been learning something new: how to share this soul-work in the digital world.
In this post, I talk about:
– Why I’ve been experimenting with reels and video 🎥
– How I’m blending woodturning and storytelling
– Where this creative journey is heading next (including a sacred flute waiting to be born)
This season feels like a bridge — between the bench and the screen, the grain and the story. I’d love for you to read and walk with me: https://www.knotwrightwoodworking.com/blog
