Decided to go in a new area this weekend. Started Friday morning with a 6 hour hike up the mountain from our camp to spike out. No water up top so with the rain coming in we utilized some gear to make a water catch. The next morning we woke up to partly cloudy skies that gave way to sun. Found this guy at 1,000 yards and I was able to get close enough to put him down. Coming out heavy made the brutal hike down worth it. Glad to have there to help.

Had an awesome Nevada muzzleloader hunt with my dad and brother. After determining most of the unit was not holding deer we found a pocket of good bucks way up high. Dad at almost 73 put on a lot of miles including some unsuccessful stalks. He didn’t come home with meat but was satisfied with the memories made. I was able to get a nice 4pt for the freezer.

Super stoked on my first bow buck. Within 3 hours of a solo opening morning hunt he was down. It took longer to cut him up and pack him to camp. Waited a night for the storm to pass and packed it all out the following morning.

This one has been a long time coming. While in the woods there are many decisions to make. Which area your going to hunt is usually the biggest one? You can base this decision on history in the area, the weather, the time of year it is, or simply just trying something new. What we’ve come to realize is no matter what the decision is, if you outwork the next guy typically you find success. Get up earlier, cover more ground, get off the beaten path.

On this day decisions we’re made for us as far as the weather went and we knew we had to get packed out by Sunday night due to the heavy rain coming Monday morning. We changed plans on the fly mid Sunday morning and moved where our hunt was going to start and finish so we could get back to camp and pack up for the long hike out. I found this buck and was boning him out 2 hours later. I had no intent hours previous of going into the ravine I did but for some reason I did. Had I went on the hunt I had planned I most likely don’t run into this deer.

It makes you think back about all the little moves you make that lead you to that moment that you set eyes on that big buck. You could have went down the ravine 100 yards away and never knew he was there. All I know is that continuing to trust the process and believing that around the next corner the trophy could be there is what lead me to this deer.

Happy Monday! Just over here stirring the pot🫕

4 days in the wilderness of Northern California chasing b zone blacktails. We came across a few bucks that needed some time to grow but couldn’t pass this stud 4x4 up.
We glassed him up early around 7:15 from about 800 yards and watched him with a few other bucks feeding. They stayed on their feet late since we were on the shady northwest slopes. I was able to slip into approx 150 yards and pick the right time to take the shot.
Stoked to be successful on a hot, dry, full moon weekend. Another great father/son backpacking trip that hurt like hell coming out but we made it!
Altogether it’s been a solid season for all of our crew in the B Zone.

How’s everyone else doing in California?

With one day to be packed in with a storm coming, my brother and I found a shooter. In and out in 33 hours and roughly 18 miles hiked with a few hiccups along the way. Super pumped about this opening day 4x4.

We took our bows for a quite a few hikes in Oregon this week. Sometimes that’s the way it goes🤷‍♂️ That’s why it’s called hunting right?
Thanks to for the intel on the new territory this week. It wasn’t for lack of animals, we just couldn’t close the deal on the big ones! Time to hang the bows up and oil up the rifle🦌
