This one has been a long time coming. While in the woods there are many decisions to make. Which area your going to hunt is usually the biggest one? You can base this decision on history in the area, the weather, the time of year it is, or simply just trying something new. What we’ve come to realize is no matter what the decision is, if you outwork the next guy typically you find success. Get up earlier, cover more ground, get off the beaten path.
On this day decisions we’re made for us as far as the weather went and we knew we had to get packed out by Sunday night due to the heavy rain coming Monday morning. We changed plans on the fly mid Sunday morning and moved where our hunt was going to start and finish so we could get back to camp and pack up for the long hike out. I found this buck and was boning him out 2 hours later. I had no intent hours previous of going into the ravine I did but for some reason I did. Had I went on the hunt I had planned I most likely don’t run into this deer.
It makes you think back about all the little moves you make that lead you to that moment that you set eyes on that big buck. You could have went down the ravine 100 yards away and never knew he was there. All I know is that continuing to trust the process and believing that around the next corner the trophy could be there is what lead me to this deer.
