Two former Royal Music employees passed away recently.

Lenny Donofrio was a founding member joining Royal Music on Day One.

Maria Bruno "Miss Maria" followed a year or two later.
Both were well loved by the students and are sorely missed.

Nearly New Yamaha Clavinova Baby Grand

An elderly Church organist and long-time customer of our store thought he’d like a baby grand. He purchased this Yamaha CLP-765GP from another music store. Because he lived over 100 miles from that dealer he ordered it without playing it.

Long story short … after a couple of days the customer decided he didn’t want this marvelous instrument. The dealer he bought it from wouldn’t take a return, so he traded it in to our store for an organ.

This piano was in his home for 8 days. Technically it is previously owned, but it is as new as you’ll ever find. (The bench is still in the box.) The plastic is still on the pedals. Purchased new for $6k we are offering it for $4700.

We lost a good one this week. Joe Genna passed.

Joe was a Royal Music institution. His zest for life and love of music was evident to all who knew him. He always smiling, he quickly turned strangers into friends and was always offering help to anyone’s musical challenges. He became expert in most of the instruments featured in our showroom.

While there are a ton of photos from Royal Music it was a challenge finding some of Joe. Usually he was the one taking the photos.

There would be no Royal Music without this man.

Truer words are rarely written: " ... Most importantly he was a loving and dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather brother, uncle, and friend. He was true gentleman, and a man of great faith and integrity. "

RIP El Kahuna Grande

Daniel J. Slick
January 25, 1952 - August 17, 2021

69, Windber, was blessed with the gift of eternal joy on August 17, 2021. Born January 25, 1952, in Johnstown, son of the late George H. and Virginia E. (McCartney) Slick Sr. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janice (Slick) Roberts. Survived by his wife of 48 years, Deborah (Wright) Slick; his sons, Joshua D. Dan loved music from childhood, and that love of music led to a long and amazing career. Beginning at the age of 14 he was already playing organ in many local Johnstown bands. His career spanned retail, wholesale, corporate management, and ownership of a small family piano store. He was employed as a regional sales manager for Baldwin Piano and Organ for many years. After Baldwin he joined the executive team of Technics Musical Instruments and ended his career as the company's General Manager of U.S. Operations. He also taught middle school technology for 7 years before retiring.

Dan enjoyed lending his music ability in worship to his lord and savior, and many churches were blessed by his talent. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Steelers and the Penguins, spending time with friends, bandmates, and watching the clouds from his swing on the back porch. Most importantly he was a loving and dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather brother, uncle, and friend. He was true gentleman, and a man of great faith and integrity. Friends and family will be received at Harris Funeral Home Inc. (Richland) on Saturday August 21, 2021 from 10 a.m. until time of the Home Going service at 12 p.m.; Interment will be private.
