I know I have been slacking on keeping up with my CLG page, so I thought it might be time to a new post or 2. My guitars seem to be flying off the shelfs, so I'm gonna post what I have left to sell. These are actually some of my favorites. And the pristine 66 Fender Bassman is also for sale. Everything is sold.

To all my Guitar playing friends out there! Shout Out today to my friend Chuck Gray, guitarist extraordinaire, plus guitar builder, luthier, & guitar repair wizard. Recently I purchased a D’Angelico Premier DC at a garage sale of all places. Beautiful guitar but it had issues from lack of pkay, etc. I took it to Chucks workshop today and he did a fret level/polish, tweaked the pickups, and a general set up. It plays and sounds like a dream!! Thanks Chuck. I Highly recommend Chuck for any guitar work you might need. See less

It's time for a new Tele! My brother inlaw has a place on St. Croix in the Virgin Islands. He called one day & asked if I used mahogany wood in my builds, sure. He said, I'll bring you a piece of native mahogany from St. Croix. I was not sure what it would look like being rough cut from a mill. And I forgot to tell him which way to run the grain, It came with grain horizontal, but I needed to build it anyway cause he went to a lot of trouble getting it to me. It was 2" thick so it took a bit of planing. I started laying out a Tele shape, (easiest to build). It had some splitting on the back side, so I cut it in half & moved the splits out so most would get cut off. I added another piece in the middle, but turned it 1/4 turn to make it solid. After planing & sanding & a quick wipe down with naptha, all that grain jumped out at me, way cool. I had a nice roasted maple neck that filled the bill. I thought maybe a mix of black & gold hardware would set things off even more. Put in a pair of Hot Rodded Seymour Duncans, & it is off to the races. Super nice guitar, plays great & sounds amazing. It will be a keeper for sure. Zoom in on the grain if you can.

i took a short break from building Tele style guitars for about 2 seconds, long enough to build a flying V like I used to own. I had an Epiphone Popa Chubby V about 20 some years back, that I always thought was pretty cool. They are bringing a lot of money, so I thought I would just buid one, Mine has noiseless P90's, all CTS & Switchcraft stuff, block inlayed neck, & gold hardware. A real rock & roll machine. I call it my "Popa Chucky" It's sold.

How many Tele style guitars should someone own? Well here is another one to add to the collection. This is a solid pine body, 21 fret neck, custom gold metallic lacquer & a pair of Gibson Mini Humbuckers. Why not be a bit different. Sounds extremely tele like for humbuckers, plays great too. It's sold.

I was asked by a friend if I could make a really cheap guitar play & sound good. Not being one that dodges a challenge, I thought I might work on a couple of bucks down guitars.
The blue SG was the cheapest Epiphone SG they offered. On top of that, it was a total wreck. I completely stripped the body, actually I ran it thru my planer just to make it flat again. Through the neck away & ordered a LP style neck that was a bolt-on. I had made the body so thin I had to do a few mods to make that all work, but it did. I have always been a big fan of Pellum Blue, so I mixed up a witches brew & Sprayed it on. Added in a pair of my noiseless P-90's, good tuners & adjustable bridge & low & behold, a great playing & sounding SG type. Not to mention, it wieghs about 3 pounds.
The middle one is a new Squier Starcaster that had a broken neck. I didn't care for the sound of the pickups, so I adaped some hot Dimarzio standard size humbuckers in there place. Replaced all the electronics with CTS & Switchcraft. I didn't have a Fender style neck at the time, but I did have a Gibson style on hand. A few adjustments later & the scale difference worked out, it's now a 24 3/4" scale guitar. Again, dare to be diffent.
The black Strat was a gift from an old friend that came from Walmart. I was really surprised to see it was not a plywood body. A full set of Area Dimarzio's & all new electronics, plus a nice neck & tuners, bammo, a great Strat style guitar. I changed the input plate to better fit a wireless I use.
These too are all for sale at Boothill Guitars in Belton Mo.

I know, I know, everyone calls it pink, but the name on the bottle said Rose. And besides, James Burton played a pink paisley Tele & everyone seemed to like it.
Well for me, I was looking at various ways to color clear lacquer & came across these powdered dyes. I thought, why not try something in a pastel color maybe from the fifties. I liked how it mixed well, so it was time to shoot something with it. I was finishing a new Tele style build & desided why not.
This body I made from Okume, a mahogany looking, very light weight & resonat wood. Added in a pair of Dimarzio hot rail humbuckers, a nice thru the body bridge, a 24 fret neck & locking tuners, for a real screamin guitar.
Some call this pink, I call it rose, either way a very nice lady & great entertainer named Roni Ward is rocking my Tele, go girl!

I love all different types of Les Pauls, but I think one of my favorites was the early LP Specials with P-90's. Because I had a lot of mahogany, I thought it was time to build one. I prefer a bound neck in which the specials never had, with trap inlays, that they never had either. Installed a super set of ALNICO 5 noiseless P-90's. my classic double ring tuners, a very adjustable wrap-around bridge, & all the rest of the good stuff.
This was my first attempt a doing a sunburst finish, it was fun. I think it turned out fine. I desided to do a satin lacquer clear coat instead of gloss, I love it. A great playing & sounding guitar.
This one belongs now to a great player named Grant Greenlee.

Dare to be different. I've been an SG guy since I started playing 1962. Always loved the body design. I was given a solid peice of walnut from an old fireplace mantal that was 130 years old. Not to let that go to waste, it was time it became something else. So I decided to do an SG shape, but layout everything else as a Les Paul. I didn't do the chamfer on the edges so it would look like another SG. I decided to do a bolt-on neck so if the walnut did something weird I could build a different body. The cherry red dye brought the walnut to life. Turned out great, very resonant. A pair of SD pickups makes this baby rock. Vintage looking double ring Schaller tuners, with a tone pro wrap-around bridge, & all the rest of the good stuff.
This one is for sale at Boothill Guitars in Belton Mo.
