Hello everyone! I'll be giving you a brief review of the book "The City of Ember" by Jeanne Duprau. I first discovered this book when I watched the movie. When I first watched it I had no idea that it was based on a book. Then when I was looking through the books at a thrift store, I found this gem of a book. If you struggle to imagine the world of this book then I would suggest watching the movie after you finish the book.
This book follows the adventure of Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow as they discover the truth about their city called Ember. Lina discovers a box that has long been forgotten with instructions inside. As Lina and her friend Doon try to decipher the meanings of this artifact, they discover deceit and betrayal at the heart of their city.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. The writing painted a wonderful picture in my mind of what their lives looked like in the City of Ember. The author did a great job of writing from the perspective of Lina and Doon as they discover new items that have long been forgotten. I would absolutely recommend this book to all ages as a family friendly book. Plus it is a series! "The City of Ember" is the first book of the 4 book series. I will definitely be adding the rest of the series to my reading list!
I will post more book reviews soon so keep your eyes open for those postings!
