Cool off with a burst of berry goodness! 🇺🇸 These Summertime blueberry mocktails and cocktails are refreshing, fruity, and perfect for sipping on a sunny porch or serving at a backyard gathering.
SUMMERTIME BLUEBERRY MOCKTAIL
4-5 mint leaves
4-5 basil leaves
¼ cup blueberries
½ oz Demerara syrup
Crushed ice to fill glass
6 oz lemonade
Place the mint leaves, basil leaves, blueberries and Demerara syrup in a large sturdy glass. (Think stadium cup size and sturdiness.)
Choose a gentle muddling tool. A small, flat wooden tool is ideal, such as the end of a wooden spoon
Gently press down and twist to release the flavors and aromas. Do not crush or smash into a pulp.
Pour into a large cylindrical glass or pint glass. Add ice, then top off with lemonade. Add a twist of lemon slice or mint leaf to top.
Don’t want to purchase demerara syrup? Make your own simple syrup by adding 1 part water to 1 part sugar (cane or brown, your choice but each will change the flavor slightly) to a sauce pan. Bring to a boil to melt sugar and immediately remove from heat. Allow the simple syrup to cool down before using.

This recipe can be done with Blackberries as well. Switch the fruit to blackberry and the juice to limeade.
