Prairie Secrets

Prairie Secrets Praise Secrets is just that - creating items for those abandoned by others or repurposing into new things! My husband calls it hoarding.

My Grandmother Taylor taught me to waste not - want not. I love to create new thing out of old. So call it repurposing - I call it honoring what someone first started. You will find things here that were started and not finished; you will find items created from nature and you will find items that are a reflection of who I am. I hope you love what you see here as much I do!

Many moons ago I bought a box of fabric strips which included some strips already made into balls and this rug that was mainly finished with the exception of a couple of feet or so. The fabric strips are all gone. Some of them were used in the bag that I made for Jessica in 2017 and the rest - projects I don't remember.

The only thing left of this purchase was the rug I finished today. I was always going to rip it apart and redo as it has waves/ripples in it which prevent the rug from laying totally flat. In time this will take care of itself in time as it lays on a floor.

I started thinking about the woman who sat and put all of the work into this rug to get it to the point that it was at and I couldn't bear to take it apart. I am guessing she was going to use all of the fabric strips and balls and add them to the rug in order to make it larger. I think that this is the reason why I never took it apart before - I would not be honoring a woman I didn't even know but who worked hard to create something for her family. It is now finished looking for a home. It is not a rug to be used a lot as the fabric in it is old. It is more to look at and reflect upon a past life and to thank the Lord we do not have to make all of our rugs by hand any longer! PM message if you are interested in more information or if you would like me to take it to Who’slou Thrifts and Gifts

Not everything turns into a rug, bag or basket! When one of the girls say, "Can you....", I accept the challenge. I wish I would have kept before pictures of what I started with but here is the end result. One women's short sleeve shirt and one denim jacket turned into....
