In the cold quiet of a Gould winter, a snowshoe crashed through the silence and into history. A trail was forged. From there began an event that spanned decades.

And now...The Gould Ski Scramble is Back! ⛷️

Well, it will be, but first we need to undertake the difficult task of partying. 🕺

We’re throwing a Ski Scramble hoedown at the Powderhorn Cabins to revive the legendary cross country ski race and snowshoe stomp! We’ll serve up free dinner and good times with a silent auction, a watermelon eating contest and live music by the touring musicians of At the Water Tower. Come see the band, dance, have fun and thaw out a Gould legend: The Ski Scramble!! ❄️☃️🌨️

We will be adding more information to here and in www.GouldColorado.com, but mostly we look forward to partying with you for an incredible cause. We’ll see you on July 11 at The Powderhorn Cabins! ✨

The moose stands alone! While there are herds of elk and pronghorn at Arapaho NWR, moose are solitary creatures. Moose have no need of herd vigilance to stay safe. They rely on their size and strength to fight off predators. It is worth noting that because they watch out for their own safety they are much more aggressive than elk or pronghorn and can be dangerous to humans if they see us as a threat. It is important to exercise caution and keep your distance from moose. Moose eat twigs, leaves and bark in great quantities. Moose need to spread out to get enough food. A cow, female, moose will stay with her calf for up to a year. Moose do gather during mating season. Sometimes a single bull will gather are group of cows.
