We’re two days from our holiday pop-up, but unfortunately our new order from hasn’t made it here yet.

We have a few items in stock, but it may be a couple more weeks until our new items are here. I still want these new items to be a part of this sale this week though. Ordering from is something that’s important to me, and during this time of political unrest there, it’s even more so. Purchasing from a Haitian business ensures that people are employed and able to provide for many families in their community.

Tomorrow and Thursday, I’ll be posting the items I’ve ordered, the quantity and prices. There will be a page to shop that’s solely for these items, but there will be limited stock!

As a consumer, I try to be intentional with my purchases. I like things to serve a purpose (multipurpose, if possible), stimulate a feeling/memory or benefit a greater cause. I came across these jewelry boxes (there are actually three of these - the smallest sits on my nightstand) at the last sale and they’ve been the best for storing my jewelry, neck scarfs and the small accessories that us ladies love to wear.

will be open again this weekend - November 8 & 9 from 10-5 and I can tell you first hand their stuff is GOOD (I also snagged my couch from their sale this summer!). So if you’re looking for something specific or already getting a start on holiday shopping, stop by this weekend. The best part? Your purchases go towards empowering families right here in Wake County.

Also - we’re just a little over two weeks away from our next pop-up at and our candles are fully restocked for it. This new bonfire scent is perfect for those of us who love the smell, but have no space for a real one. 😉

For anyone else that needs these words on this Friday (that I snagged from and strategically place by my bed so it’s one of the first things I see in the morning.)

The changing seasons has seemed to be impacting a lot of us lately. We’re hustling, we’re going for as long as we can go without a break and saying a lot of “yes” to things when we should probably be saying more “no.” We just can’t seem to ever catch up or finish everything we need or want to. It’s frustrating. We beat ourselves up over it. Rinse & repeat.

Sometimes though, we need to take a breath and do what we can with the time that we have and know that we can pick back up with everything else tomorrow. So to you, tired, busy, over-booked, can’t-keep-up-with-the-laundry person, give yourself some grace & let whatever you do today be enough.

Is introduction Tuesday a thing? Oh well, I’m rolling with it. I’ve been MIA, but also know there are some new faces here so I wanted to introduce (or reintroduce) myself to all of you lovely people & tell you about what’s been going on behind the scenes.

I’m Lauren and I started Myles and Shaw after feeling the call to give back and advocate for to two nonprofits I believe in.
•
If you didn’t know though, Myles and Shaw isn’t my full time job. I work in digital marketing full time, bartend a few shifts a month and with what time I have left, try to squeeze out any creativity that remains for Myles and Shaw. I always want to be real and raw with you all, even in the rough patches & I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been taxing on me. Lately I’ve had conversations regarding my full time job and where that may lead in the next 2-5 years (because, hello, bills!) and so my mind has been a little absent from this little store and keeping you all updated.
•
All around, I’ve tried to keep up in all avenues in life and feel as though I’m failing at some pretty important ones. Taking care of myself mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually is one of those things. And if you don’t take the time to help yourself, you can’t be there to help others. With that, I am dreaming up some plans that will likely reshape Myles and Shaw in 2020.
•
While some things may change in 2020, I am still gearing up for the last pop-up of 2019! After my launch in July, I began searching for new companies to work with and let me tell you, that’s not always as easy or fun as it seems. It’s been difficult and a lot of back and forth with people and a few weeks ago I had to cancel a pretty large order. But onwards and upwards. This pop-up may be a little smaller than the first, but I’m actually more excited about it. I’m bringing items from companies that put good into this world and you may even see some things from yours truly.

I used mine as a beach blanket during the summer and this week I’ve been using the same blanket in the morning while watching & sipping my coffee. The great thing about these throws?
