ABOUT THE BOOK & AUTHOR

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author V.E. Schwab, returns with the exciting conclusion to the Villains series

The triumphant conclusion to the Villains trilogy from V.E. Schwab, the #1 New York Times Bestselling author of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil.

The ExtraOrdinary of Merit City, a secret group of individuals gifted with a power connected to their manner of near-death experience, have been keeping a low profile, avoiding the ever-watchful eye of EON in the wake of the showdown with Marcella, Eli, and Serena.

But when EON—and its relationship to the ExtraOrdinaries— begins to change under the leadership of a new director with a terrifying agenda, the time for hiding is over. The path to the truth of what happened to EON leads Victor, Sydney, Mitch and the rest into the enemy’s lair at EON headquarters, where they encounter unexpected allies, shocking new abilities, and the ultimate confrontation.

Against all the years, the betrayals, and the odds—the arch rivals and their allies will meet for a final time, on a chess board laid out by a rival they didn’t expect.

VICTORIA “V. E.” SCHWAB is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of more than twenty books. Schwab's series and standalone titles for readers of all ages have made her a major literary figure, whose notable works include the Villains series, the Shades of Magic universe, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, and Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil. When not haunting Paris streets or writing in the corner of her favorite coffee shop, she lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Staff pick from Vern for SPREAD ME by Sarah Gailey

"Have you ever thought to yourself: mmmm but that virus though? No? Just me? Spread Me is weird, erotic, and perfect for fellow horror-loving freaks. I previously read Sarah Gailey’s Upright Women Wanted and really liked it—but this novella truly did me in with how much I love their writing! Prepare to be sucked in by this isolated desert and the seductive lifeforms that lay just below its surface…"

ABOUT THE BOOK
An indispensable, first-of-its-kind roadmap for parents and educators of neurodivergent children, packed with science-backed strategies and real-life stories to help every child thrive in—and beyond—the classroom

Your neurodivergent child is growing up in a world that wasn’t built for them. A world that asks them to sit still, learn in the same way as everyone else, and thrive in a system that too often ignores their unique strengths. Because of the way their brain is wired, school can feel overwhelming—for them and for you. But your child is not broken. They are amazing.

Child psychologist and mom of two neurodivergent sons, Emily W. King, PhD, has spent twenty years listening to kids, parents, and teachers, and building bridges between them. In The Neurodivergent Learner, she combines cutting-edge neuroscience with real-life stories to show parents how to stop pushing their children into a mold—and instead help them flourish on their own path. With warmth, expertise, and a deep understanding of how kids actually learn, Dr. King gives families the confidence and tools to partner with educators, reduce stress at home, and nurture the whole child.

Inside, you’ll discover:

What’s really happening in your child’s brain when school feels “too much.”

Why homework, testing, and traditional classrooms often miss the mark—and what to do instead.

Practical strategies for working with teachers (not against them) to create learning environments where your child thrives.

How to manage energy, anxiety, and overwhelm without sacrificing joy, curiosity, or confidence.

Stories from kids themselves that reveal how empowering it feels to be understood.

Tools to help your child embrace their uniqueness, find their allies, and redefine what success looks like—inside and outside the classroom.

ABOUT THE BOOK & AUTHOR

Margot Cartwright is not exactly blending in with the residents of Glenville, South Carolina. An unwilling transplant from Washington, D.C., Margot feels like a fish out of water among the Lululemon-wearing, tiny-dog-owning, non-New Yorker-reading locals who are clamoring to have their fur babies star on Pawsh, a reality TV show about couture canines. (Sure, Margot loves her dog, but Sid Vicious is far too cool of a mutt for a show like that!) She even feels like an outcast amongst her family, and after she’s caught channeling her inner “Robin Hood” by stealing her neighbors’ pro-Pawsh signs, further cementing her title as the neighborhood pariah, she thinks things can’t possibly get any worse, right?

Wrong. When the local dog walker is killed in a bizarre incident involving an over-the-top Halloween display featuring multiple Home Depot skeletons, all eyes turn to Margot. To clear her name and save her family from falling apart, Margot vows to find the real killer before they strike again—but she can’t do it alone.

Enter Anne, a glamorous septuagenarian widow determined to maintain her reign over the HOA, and Sally-Claire, a "Mom Life" sweatshirt-clad member of the “Mommy Mafia” who might not be as perfect as she seems. Together, the unlikely trio (along with their canine companions) dives into the mystery, navigating the quirky and secretive world of Glenville’s residents. Can they solve the case before it’s too late, or will Margot’s reputation be permanently dog-eared?

MIMI MONTGOMERY is a reporter at Axios. She's written for The Washington Post, Washingtonian, Garden & Gun, and Outside Magazine, and her reporting has been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Inside Edition, and CNN, among others. Mimi attended the University of Virginia and has a master's from Georgetown University. Originally from North Carolina, she lives in D.C. with her husband, son, and several furry dependents. This is her first novel.

Staff pick from Rebecca for THE DARK NIGHT by Deborah Lutz

"Emily Brontë, Best Brontë, send tweet. This gorgeous biography is a compelling glimpse into the life and mind of the most elusive Brontë sister: Emily, the surviving middle child, a prickly and passionate poet and author who loved animals, her sisters, the fantastical stories they created together, and the dark, storm-swept moors that surrounded them. To Lutz, moments of domestic banality and cosmic splendor deserve equal gravity, and she pulls from previously inaccessible journals and papers to chip away at the myth of Emily Brontë to reveal a vibrant, brilliant, complicated woman. I loved this book and would recommend it to any Bronte fan! ="
