Foam Oval Nationals Raises the Bar to Help Children’s Charities
The third running of the Foam Oval Nationals in Racine, Wisconsin delivered another unforgettable chapter in the growing legacy of RC oval racing, combining fierce competition with a powerful sense of purpose. What began just a few years ago as a grassroots gathering has quickly evolved into one of the most anticipated events on the 1RC and Losi NASCAR calendars—and this year’s edition proved exactly why.
Drivers from across the country converged at Racine Moose Club 437 Family Center, bringing with them a shared passion for the sport. From the opening practice sessions, it was clear the level of competition had stepped up yet again. Lap times dropped quickly as racers adapted to the fast, high-grip foam surface, setting the stage for intense qualifying rounds.
Qualifying did not disappoint. Tight margins separated the top contenders in multiple classes, with position changes coming down to fractions of a second. Clean lines, tire management, and consistency proved just as critical as outright speed. The atmosphere around the track buzzed with anticipation as drivers made final adjustments heading into the mains.
When the green flag dropped on the A-mains, the action escalated immediately. Side-by-side racing, perfectly timed passes, and strategic patience defined the event. Several classes saw dramatic battles for the lead, with drivers navigating traffic. The crowd was treated to thrilling finishes, including last-lap moves that brought everyone to their feet.
But beyond the competition, what truly set the Foam Oval Nationals apart was its impact off the track. This year’s event raised over $3,000 in support of children’s charities and veterans’ organizations, reinforcing the community-driven spirit that has become the heart of the race. Racers, organizers, sponsors, and attendees all contributed to a cause far greater than trophies and lap times.
The pit area atmosphere reflected that spirit throughout the weekend. Veterans of the sport welcomed newcomers, teams lent parts and advice to competitors, and friendships were strengthened between drivers It was a reminder that while the racing may be intense, the community behind it is even stronger.
As the final checkered flags waved and podium celebrations wrapped up, one thing was clear: the third Foam Oval Nationals was not just a success—it was a milestone. HAPPY Foam Oval Nationals Eve everyone!
REMINDER Tomorrow's event is NOT manditory BUT if can win the A Main tomorrow night in your class, you will start no further back the last in the B Main on Saturday. Kind of a nice insurance policy.
Also - IF you have questions, please reach the FON page or RC URadio page by 7AM tomorrow morning. Afte that I will be in full metal FON mode and unreachable.
