Looks pretty wild from this angle, doesn’t it? 👀

What you’re looking at is the backside of our new Horizontal Machining Center getting hooked up at EGW. That massive looping “chain” system is actually the machine’s automatic tool magazine.

Every numbered pocket around the chain can hold a different cutting tool including endmills, drills, taps, reamers, chamfer tools, and more. The machine automatically swaps between them in seconds while running production.

It’s honestly one of the coolest parts of modern machining to see up close. There’s an incredible amount of engineering packed into systems like this to keep high-speed, high-precision manufacturing running smoothly all day long.

Right now we’re finishing up wiring, plumbing, and setup before this thing officially starts making chips.

More capacity.

Every one of these is eventually going to end up blended, fit, and worked into somebody’s 1911 like it was always meant to be there.

That’s one of the coolest parts about making components like this. Right now they’re just fresh off the machine sitting in a tray, but before long they’ll be part of somebody’s carry gun, match gun, range toy, or full custom build.

A small part of the pistol, but one that completely changes the feel in your hand when it’s done right.

Behind the scenes at EGW.

After the move, things slowed down on the content side while we got everything back up and running. Now that we are settled in, we are putting time back into something we have wanted to improve for a while.

We are working on consistent content focused on the fi****ms we support and the parts we make. The goal is to break down fitment, setups, and what actually works together.

We want to build a solid knowledge base so you can make the right decision the first time.

We are getting close to rolling it out.

35 years.

What started as a small shop in Pennsylvania with a handful of machines and a focus on doing things the right way has turned into what EGW is today.

From the beginning, the goal was simple. Make parts that work. Pay attention to the details. Don’t cut corners. Let the product speak for itself.

Over the years, we’ve grown, added new products, new machines, and new capabilities. But the core of what we do hasn’t changed. We still machine our parts right here in Pennsylvania, and we still care about every order that goes out the door.
