It doesn't look like much now, but by Labor Day, you should see a vast improvement. This is the new home of Sarah Mae Quilt Company in Hubbard.

We have room for the longarm, embroidery machine, dedicated classroom, and a retail area.

As of now, it will be open on Fridays and Saturdays, but more frequently during school breaks.

I know it is a little out of my Corsicana friends' way, but I hope you make the drive. Hobby Lobby just doesn't carry all the things a quilter needs.

School is almost out, which means we can take on summer longarm jobs.

Any quilts dropped off in May and June will receive a 25% discount on batting (Hobbs 80/20 or Hobbs 60/40) and a 10% discount on longarm quilting.

Regular longarm prices range from .022/sq in to .028/sq in.

Here are the 3 foundation blocks for the Alaska quilt /Frontier wallhanging.

If you have made a kaleidoscope quilt, then you are a step ahead.

The trick is keeping track of which colors go where.

Now to make 3 more of each of the top 2 blocks.

How many of y'all have been fascinated by the Alaska quilt by Laundry Basket Quilts, but equally intimated by it? 🙋‍♀️

Well, help is on the way.

After 3 years of waiting, I will be offering a class on the 3 (only 3, seriously) foundation blocks for this quilt...most likely in the summer.

The intro project is called Frontier, which uses the 3 blocks to make a 33" wallhanging. Once you make this, you have all the knowledge you need to make the full size Alaska.

It does require the special Creative Grids Alaska Ruler, but besides that nothing special is needed.

Stay tuned for my progress updates on the wallhanging sample. I need to practice, too, before diving into the Alaska quilt.

Working on a new class sample for an early 2026 class.

Nana's Flower Garden

There is nothing technically difficult about this quilt, but I will find ways to improve the pattern. I've have had my eye on this quilt for quite some time.

Pattern calls for no border and 108" x 108" finished size. That is way too big for me and my longarm, so I am reducing block sizes to make it 95x95, including borders.

Stay tuned. I want to get the sample finished before heading back to school so that I can actually hold the class as planned.
