The Enlightenment Stained glass Background

I started learning stained glass by taking a college course at Garden City Community College in the Fall of 2000.

This was shortly after completing a Master's Degree in Social Work in 1998 and was needing to recover from academic work. For Christmas I got an early gift of basic equipment needed for glass work. I ended up making 6 or so gifts in time for Christmas. The following semester I found a mentor, Rowena Turner, in rural Holcomb, Ks who opened her studio out of her home to people to work on glass at th

eir own pace. She was instrumental in helping me problem solve my projects and allow me, along with others, to use her equipment I did not have at home. I moved from the area in 2001 but was able to set up my own studio in Purcell in my home. It was important to me to offer something similar to Rowena so I started a small hobby group through my church Pathways United Methodist Church in Oronogo, Mo. Most Tuesday nights you will find me working on glass or helping others I have taught.
