9 months ago today, I softly opened the doors to Wild Orchid. 💜
Punta Gorda had no idea who I was. I was simply a small business owner with a vision for this little 100-year-old cottage and a hope that maybe, just maybe, you would find something special here.
And you did.
You welcomed me into your neighborhood and helped me create a place where everyone could walk through the door and feel welcomed, celebrated and at home.
You became my regulars.
My friends.
My cheerleaders.
You made Wild Orchid your place—a place to shop, to gather, to sit for a while, listen to music, enjoy an afternoon and sometimes simply escape from the world for a little bit.
I never expected our little page to grow to more than 2,500 followers so quickly. I never expected so many of you to walk through the door with friends and family saying, “You have GOT to come see this place.”
And I certainly never expected that just nine short months later, I would be preparing to say goodbye to this beautiful old cottage.
That part is bittersweet.
But here is what I know...
Wild Orchid was never just the cottage.
It was the people who filled it.
It was the laughter in the garden, the conversations around the tables, the music, the friendships, the artists and makers, the familiar faces walking through the door and the new ones who quickly became familiar.
And I vow to take everything we created here with me.
We are going to create another amazing space—one rooted in that same warmth, connection and feeling of belonging. A place where you can walk through the door and know you are welcome.
The cottage may not be coming with us, but the heart of what we built here absolutely is.
Thank you, Punta Gorda.
Thank you for taking a chance on me nine months ago.
Thank you for shopping small, bringing your friends, sharing our posts, showing up for our events, sitting in our garden and telling people about this little place.
Most of all, thank you for making Wild Orchid yours, too.
This isn't goodbye. We're just taking everything you helped us build and planting it somewhere new. 🌿💜
And I can't wait for you to see what comes next.
