Met a friend on my morning walk today! Life is crazy and hectic right now as we prepare to sell the house and sometimes makes us question what we are even doing- but then, there’s this. Just a simple Thursday morning and its a little easier to remember that it’s all going to be worth the madness.

Funny how life brings familiar faces back around.

Today was our second day volunteering at the Cherry Creek State Park Visitor Center, and Michelle, the park manager, stopped in. Years ago, we served together on the Brighton Chamber of Commerce board.

We hadn’t seen each other in quite a while, so it was nice to catch up and reconnect in a completely different setting.

2,894 miles. 8 campgrounds. Countless memories. ❤️🚐

We traveled from Colorado to California, made magical memories with our kids and grandbabies at Disneyland and Dodger Stadium, explored the Grand Canyon, survived California traffic, and made our way safely back home to Cherry Creek State Park.

This is exactly what Handmade on the Highways is all about—building a business we love while creating unforgettable adventures together.

This same camper was in Grants, New Mexico and now Raton, New Mexico. One of the ladies walked by and I asked if they were same folks at the campground in Grants. She said yes. There are 3 ladies living life on the road. The youngest is 65. The lady we were talking to I asked who drives that big boy. She said she does and told us she was 77yrs old. Love the stories and the people we meet on the road.

So we stayed at a KOA in Grants New Mexico and had to run into town. At a veteran’s memorial in the middle of town these were on display. That is the exact type of HAWK radar (CWAR) I worked on when I served and with missile launcher. I about wrecked the truck and scared the s**t out of Dedee. I haven’t seen one since 1989. Wow brings back some memories. SOUND OFF HAWKERS. IF IT FLIES IT DIES!!! First I see an old army buddy of mine then equipment I went to school to learn how to repair. What a trip. 🇺🇸

Full-time travel + full-time business is definitely an adventure, but I wouldn’t trade this season of life for anything 💕

This is our last morning in Anaheim and I’m sitting out on the deck trying to decide which of the moments were my favorite.

Was it…

1) getting to go to a Los Angeles Dodgers with the kids?

2) picking fresh oranges right outside our RV?

3) watching Scott light up while reminiscing with his army buddy, Steve?

4) eating ridiculous late-night snacks in Disneyland?

5) spoiling our grandson with all the delicious treats?!

6) seeing the bond between grandpa and Jonah get stronger every day?

7) celebrating birthdays and milestones together in our matching shirts?

There are so many more…

I guess I don’t have to choose.
It was all of it. Every moment.

Such an amazing trip—and I already can’t wait until we’re all together again 🤍
