Had soooo much fun today in my lapidary class learning how to make cabs. We had to start with a glass piece and make an oval or round. Next is shaping and polishing. 8 week course stay tuned….

Chromium rich petrified wood- Araucaria-
Small deposit in the Chinle Formation, North of Winslow, Navajo County, Arizona.
Triassic period.
2.25" across polished face X 2.5" tall
Specimen colored green by Chromium salts.
This petrified wood is a natural hygrometer, the higher the humidity, the darker deep green it turns.

Look at this guy! I can’t believe I found this agate! My favorite collection is my agates from home. Can’t wait to see what is inside. I’ve been collecting since I was a kid. I think the other is banded jasper which I also found.
