Veteran Bass Lake Guide Mike Beighey, said that DF&W made a big plant of about 3. 5 pound trout at Bass Lake this past week.
His son, Bobby Beighey and his buddy picked up 2 limits to nearly 4 pounds a few days after. Mike Beighey says that this plant coupled with a plant a few weeks earlier will make fishing for the upcoming trout derby much more interesting. Coupled with normal big plants before the derby, this could be a dynamite year.
The water level continues to be low, keeping boaters from launching at the ramp. However, he believes that for fee, boats can be launched from the Pines Resort ramp. This plant could make the fee worth it. Beighey says for trollers, he recommends Dick's Mountain Tubes, hoochies , Koke Busters or Trout Busters l, in orange, purple or pink, behind a Dick's Mountain Dodger.
Beighey will start taking reservations soon for his upcoming 2024 season.
