Here's the finished project after sanding with grits 150, 220, 340, 400, 600, and 800. Then appling several coats of walnut oil. Sounds like a lot of work. Oh it is! The burl shows good with the rot.

After the bowl insides are turned to the desired thickness, tool smoothing of the inside starts. The next step will be sanding.

This process is to remove the supporting tenon so the rest of the center can be removed and the sides are turned to the finished thickness. This is a slow period of the process.

Material is removed from the inside which reveals alot of the grain and insect tunnels.

Next step is to turn the bowl and start on the inside.

Progress continues by turning an end piece so the lathe chuck will hold the bowl while turning the inside.
