I don’t even know where to start 😭

A few years ago, Coastal Buds was nothing more than just an idea. Today, because of the incredible support from our community, we get to finally announce the opening of our second location 🥹

We are so beyond excited to share that we’ll be opening in the Calallen/Annaville area in the next few weeks!

This next chapter is all about growth. New faces, new opportunities, and another chance to create the kind of place that feels welcoming the moment you walk through the door.

We still have a lot to do before opening day, but we can’t wait to take you along for the ride. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing sneak peeks, behind the scenes updates, and all the little details that are turning this space into our second home.

And of course, thank YOU.
Every milestone we’ve reached would not have been possible without the people who chose to believe in us.

Okay but first can we just take a second to appreciate how incredible our community is. When we first started this letter campaign, we never imagined having the response we did but because of every single one of you, we didn’t just reach our goal, we exceeded it!

To keep this completely fair, we put everyone’s name into this random picker (peep the super cute duck race😭🐥) and screen recorded the whole thing so you could watch it with us!

Well, yesterday’s hearing was… interesting.

We went into it knowing we wouldn’t be allowed to speak since the testimony was by invitation only, and most of the people invited were there to argue against our industry.

Still, we showed up.

We wore bright green ribbons on our suits so it was clear who we were there for: our customers, our community, and the thousands of Texans who weren’t given a voice in that room.

Sitting there and listening wasn’t easy. There were statistics that felt incomplete, conversations that left out important context, and moments where it took everything in us not to stand up and respond.

One of the biggest topics was youth access. Let me be clear: protecting kids matters. As a mom of two little humans, I never want to see THC products in the hands of children.

But it also needs to be an honest conversation.

Texas banned THC vapes last September, yet youth access is still being discussed as an ongoing problem. If kids are still getting them after the ban, then we have to ask whether licensed businesses serving adults were ever the source of that problem in the first place.

We also heard comparisons and statistics that, in my opinion, lacked very important context. Good policy should be built on complete facts, not fear, biased or incomplete comparisons.

One point I did appreciate was the discussion around the cost of arresting Texans over low-level THC offenses. There are far better uses of our law enforcement officers, our courts, and taxpayer dollars and I truly think majority of people agree.

Our biggest takeaway from yesterday was simple: despite Texans speaking up, another push to ban THC appears to be coming. Senator Charles Perry said he intends to file another THC ban in the next legislative session.

But here’s what they couldn’t ignore.
More than 100 letters from just Coastal Buds customers arrived before the hearing. More than 100 people took time out of their lives to make sure their voices were heard, even if we weren’t allowed to use ours in that room.

To every single one of you who wrote a letter, shared a post, called your representatives, or supported us along the way, thank you.

This fight is far from over.
We’ll keep showing up, keep speaking truth, and keep fighting for responsible regulation.

We’re headed to Austin, Texas!

Next week, our entire team will be heading to Austin to stand up for Texas h**p.

On July 7th, we’ll be attending the hearing to show our support for Texas h**p businesses. While only invited individuals will be participating in the hearing itself, we believe it’s incredibly important that our industry has a visible presence. Many of those invited to this hearing represent the opposing side, so we’ll be there to make sure lawmakers know there are real businesses, real employees, and real Texans who support responsible adult use and freedom of choice.

Then on July 10th, we’ll be joining advocates, business owners, and community members from across Texas for the Save Texas H**p Advocacy & Education event (see flyer below).

We’ll still be open! 💚

While our team is in Austin from July 7th through July 10th, a good friend of ours will be holding down the fort and helping all of our amazing customers.

Thank you to everyone who has written letters, made phone calls, sent emails, and stood beside us throughout this fight. Every bit of support has helped get us here. Now it’s our turn to take your voices to Austin.
