I’m a Performer, trend-setting Teacher, Art Lover, and enthusiastic Supporter of growing musicians everywhere. I believe that anyone can learn to play their inner song, that music teaches us about life, and that learning to play Guitar is incredibly fun and rewarding way to grow as a person. I want to show you the way to becoming an exceptional guitaris

t! My own musical journey has led me through moments of frustration, feeling overwhelmed by all the information out there. The world of guitar education is vast. There is an echo chamber of well-meaning voices trying to sell you the quick and easy path to learning riffs and licks via shortcuts like TAB. I have been down this road and let me tell you, it doesn’t work. My mission is to give you the creative solutions to remove the obstacles that stand between you and your musical development. I’m changing the music world by guiding a generation of guitarists to reach the highest levels of musicianship. I have a vision of a world of highly skilled guitarists who can play any music they encounter, be equipped with the skills to play the gigs they want, and who will go on share this movement of guitar excellence with the next generation of guitarists. We at MGS know that learning to read music is essential for all serious musicians. Our curriculum centers around learning to read music on the guitar and developing musicianship through ensemble playing. So many of today’s beginner guitarists are guided down the wrong path with promises of short cuts, and easy returns by well-meaning teachers using TABs as substitute for real musical learning. The truth is that these short cuts leave the guitarist untrained in so many crucial areas of musicianship. We are proud to be one of the only guitar studios around that offers a TAB Free learning environment for all our students. We encourage all guitar students and teachers to take the TAB Free Pledge! All Lessons are Remote Today!

Due to inclement weather and snowy conditions MGS will shift all lessons to remote today, Monday, April 11, 2022. All lessons will be held via Zoom.

The safety of Montavilla Guitar Studio students, families, instructors and staff is our chief concern. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing during the day and then drop below freezing this evening. We expect the roads to be slippery this evening and put our students and instructors at risk. Portland Public Schools are closed, therefor we will shift to remote lessons for today.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you or your family.

Montavilla Guitar Studio’s Inclement Weather Policy is as follows:

If Portland Public Schools CLOSE due to inclement weather, Montavilla Guitar Studio lessons will be REMOTE, and all SUN after school music classes are cancelled ALL DAY. Your safety is our TOP priority. MGS students and teachers travel from all around the Portland Metro Area, and road conditions can differ across the region. Please call 971-266-1647 if you need technical assistance with your remote lesson. Notification of changes to studio operations due to inclement weather will be sent to all instructors and students via email, and posted to the MGS Facebook and Instagram pages
