Mountain Shop The Pacific Northwest's Source for outdoor equipment, knowledge and service since 1937.

Mountain Shop was founded in 1937 by local climber/skier Everett Darr and his wife. Together they imported pitons and crampons from Europe and made climbing packs for their friends. Through several owners and locations, Mountain Shop has remained a locally owned and operated store, making it the oldest (that we know of) shop of its kind in the country.

A: 👋 Meet Tom (aka Tele Tom). Need a boot fitting? Come see Tom. Need a boot fitting for telemark boots? Definitely see Tom. Need a boot fitting for tele boots and maybe some tips for how to bake the perfect sourdough loaf? Tom is literally the only one for the job.

As our resident telemark expert, he’s our go-to when we need the beta on all the latest gear. And as our resident “person who used to own a bakery,” he’s our go-to when we need to know which type of flour to use and why it matters.

When he’s not at the shop, you can catch him catching waves on the coast 🏄, or working on upcoming projects as the co-founder of Dust on Crust Mag

“No more bruised heels” might be the highest praise a trail shoe can get.

NEW Product Review: gives us all the deets on the new Salomon Ultra Glide 4. From bombing chunky gravel descents to long race days, the super unique RelieveSPHERE sole on this shoe had her rolling over rocks instead of tiptoeing around them 👀

TLDR: ridiculously comfortable ✔️ confidence-inspiring on rough terrain ✔️ and durable enough to keep up with big miles ✔️

We’re getting ready for summer with lots of new items and changes around the shop - most notably: our snazzy new trail running area where you can find all of our running shoes, accessories, and apparel 😎

We’ve made more little updates throughout the rest of the store too with lots of new gear for all your spring and summer activities, so head over to the shop ASAP to see what’s new!

👋 Hugo might be a relatively new addition to Mountain Shop, but he’s become a pretty core part of the team already. Let’s hit you with a fun fact right off the bat: he macgyvered a fully functioning boa onto his ski boots that did not, in fact, come with a boa system at all 🏆 and we thought that was cool. So if you’ve got some boot work that needs to be done, you might want to bring it in and have him take a look.

When he’s not at the shop cooking in the boot lab, you can catch him outside in just about any format - whether that’s on skis, bike, or skateboard. Oh and if you want to get hit right in the ski-industry-feels, then you should definitely check out his article in the second issue of ✌️
