It's time for our last big guest announcement! Are you ready? Drummroll please... 🥁

Last but not least, it's the amazing Kelly Sue DeConnick and Matt Fraction!

Kelly Sue is the sotre's long time friend and we are so excited to welcome her back for our big day. You'll know her work from classics like Bitch Planet and Pretty Deadly, Eisner winning Wonder Women: Historia, current Portland based series FML, and of course her work on Captain Marvel. 🤩

Matt Fraction is another Portland local whose name you're probably well familiar with by now! From his renowned run on Hawkeye to the soon-to-be-a-show series S*x Criminals, Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen to freakin' BATMAN! Which, as a matter-of-fact, has it's vol 1 release this week. You know, just in time to pick it up and get it signed by him maybe. 👀

So join us Saturday, June 13th from 11am - 7pm for BwPCon! A one day, free-to-attend, all ages street market and mini convention. There's so much to be excited for!

Remember to take your weekly prescription of comics on Friday Zine and Indie Pub Spotlight day!

🏩🧬 Shrimp Soup by local cartoonist Devin Vincent is an ongoing fiction series about a medical research business and the guinea pig "volunteers" under its care. Want to read some healthcare horror? Stop by the shop and get your copy today!

💵💊 Here’s a sample (no spoilers, I promise): The PARVA facilities’ motto is “making a difference, together”. But at whose expense? The new director senses something ominous lurking beneath the surface of the medical research compound.

Vincent’s foreboding atmospheric storytelling gives me goosebumps. The textured linework and varied shading is just gorgeous!

On this special episode of Comedy Central: it's Friday Zine and Indie Pub Spotlight day!

🛠️🔮 Fortune's Dismemberent by local cartoonist Slam Hamburgger is the creator's debut zine. 20+ pages of uninsured shenanigans are hurtling towards your head! Quick! Stop by the shop and snag your own copy before- CRASH! BANG! NEIGH! BAM!

🍔💀 Here’s a sample (no spoilers, I promise): Hapless heavy machinery operators test the cruel hand of fate. What could go wrong? Nothing at all...surely? F ups and horseplay abound in this hysterical zine.

🩷 Slam Hamburgger’s absurd comedy is refreshing and unpredictable in the best possible way. I’m still thinking about “go suck an egg.” XD

⏰ TIME? 4 - 6 pm

During World War II, religious pacifist David Miller and a group of conscientious objectors Made an extraordinary choice: they signed up for government-sponsored medical experiments that intentionally infected them with hepatitis. Their goal was simple but dangerous―help scientists understand a disease that was sickening American soldiers fighting on the front lines.

Infected for Science tells this remarkable true story through the striking artwork of Trygve Faste and Sydney Halpern’s deeply researched narrative. Drawing on archival records and the sharp, humorous cartoons Miller himself sketched, the graphic novel follows the men through grueling medical tests and the looming fear of serious illness.

Andrea Horbinski began studying Japanese in college after she started watching anime in high school, and went on to research hypernationalist manga in Kyoto on a Fulbright Fellowship. While pursuing her PhD in history and new media at the University of California, Berkeley, she harnessed her love of manga and pop culture, writing a general history of manga in its historical and global contexts for her dissertation. Along the way, she uncovered the role that fans of manga have played in the medium’s development since its earliest decades, mirroring her own experience in sci-fi and online fandoms since childhood.
