We provided thoughtful toys that allow for play to grow and expand over time. Community Space will be an opportunity to families to meet and children to play. We value family relationships, and know that having a child and being a parent can often bring up a lot of questions. Parent support groups are an important part of how we hope to connect with families and form a welcoming community. We are

excited to offer birthing classes, lactation groups, sleep consultants, and new parents groups to name a few. Open play hours will give families a chance to get out of their everyday environment, and gather with other neighborhood families. We will have none mobile and mobile play groups during the weekdays. Entry to open play can be purchased the day of, or punch cards can be purchased ahead of time for a discount. Neighborhood families will receive a discounted price. We will offer a variety of birthday party packages that can be just the use of the space all the way up to fully inclusive party. All you would have to do is show up. The third Friday of every month will be family movie night. Ticket prices will include the movie, popcorn, pizza, and drinks. Bring a comfy blanket and join us for a family friendly event, and if kiddos don’t want to sit still the play structure will be open for busy bodies. More to come soon!

Friday, June 20th, is our last day in our space. We need to be fully cleaned out and empty by the afternoon.

The FLIP Museum is partnering with community members to purchase and preserve the beloved, hand-crafted play structure at Hammer + Jacks. This is a meaningful way to support Jillian and the H+J family as they close the store and embark on their next chapter.

With your help, this iconic play structure will continue to spark joy—relocated to The FLIP Museum’s current home in downtown Hillsboro, and potentially featured at a future Portland location, now in development.

Quick update: I can't believe I didn't get any pictures of our party! If you want to share any, please tag them, and we will repost them. It was such a bittersweet day, but it was filled with fun, hugs, flowers, balloons, and even duck eggs. Thank you all so much for celebrating with me! Ending this is hard, but knowing we could share it with you makes all the difference.
I'm sorry I have been so quiet. I have had a lot of sad feelings to process, but also a lot of truly amazing memories, which I am so incredibly thankful for.

So now what? Well, we have to leave our space. Our landlord has been incredibly flexible and kind, but we can't drag this out. Closing costs are adding up, and emotionally, it's overwhelming.
Now we are starting our big fixtures and more sale. If you represent a preschool or local Business or just need some shelving for your house or workshop and would like to come shop and see things in person, let me know. We will happily set up a time. Otherwise, I am going to start posting everything here, including measurements and info, this time! See something a friend might want? Please share it!

It's bittersweet, but we can't wait to see you! Friday and Saturday play is free, and we will have kids, music, comedy, and balloons throughout the day! Plus look! We built a second stage! There are still toys for sale just off to the side 🤣🫣😋 Come for our last two days as we celebrate the beautiful place we have built!

In an effort to pay off outstanding debt and bridge the gap to our next endeavor, we will have a little fun auctioning off some beautiful pieces of Hammer and Jack's history! Head to our website to bid and own an extra special piece of H+J in your own home or Business!

My goal is to just keep smiling till the end! So lets smile together!
I am hoping that many of you will be able to join us for a bit of fun during our final days! Be sure to scroll each picture!

In addition to the events listed above; Music, Story time, Comedy, and play, we have even more fun activities in store for you!

First we are so excited to let the kids take over the shop!
This Saturday morning in addition to story times we will be having the Kids of Kid Mart take over the shop selling their wares! Im so proud to announce that this will be biggest kid mart!

As the after noon continues on with the music and comedy, Noeil Gallimore will join us for amazing cloud filled portraits!

Many of you will remember Noeils breathtaking work from earlier in the year when he shot Tin Types in the shop! We are so excited to add these besutiful photos to our wall of memories!

😜 Throughout the day there will be covering merch in confetti and smiley faces and if I have it my way there will be CAKE and sprinkles not to mention a few other surprises!!

The truth is we just can't wait to celebrate with. You mean so much to us! Closing H+J is a very scary we are so grateful for everyone pulling together. Our hope is for a little quite time with our girls after the shop closes before we have to hit the grind stone hard. In an effort to make that dream a reality we will be auctioning off some of our most beloved H+J memorabilia such as the clouds, rainbows, globe lights, shopping carts and more! We will be sending out the link to auction items Wednesday evening! Plus our amazing neighborhood businesses have also gotten involved and we will be hosting an raffle with prizes from some of our favorite spots. Names will be pulled at the end of the party on Saturday.
H+J has been a dream come true and closing it is filled with a lot of sad emotions but we are choosing to sing in the rain and stay positive! There might be a rainbow right around the corner. Being apart of this community for so many years and sharing in so many amazing adventures with you has truly been a gift! Thank you!

For every tear I have shed in the last couple of weeks, I thank you! Some of those tears are for memories, some are for dreams, some are for fears, some are in hope and in grief, but all are shed in love. For every comment, hug, card, playtime, sale, music event, and class, I can't thank you enough for your support. I can not express the love and gratitude I hold for this community and all we have built together.

Today marks the final week. We still have tons of inventory and open play all weekend! If you are around, come visit! We are excited to play with you! Next week, we will start the big fixture sale push. If you are interested, please reach out ( even if you already have! I'm trying to respond to everyone but worried I may have missed a few)

Then, next Friday and Saturday (the 30th and 31st), we will just party together and celebrate what we have built together and all we have created!

This Thursday and Friday we will be closing at 5:30 to take in the show I am so impressed with the hardworking kids (performing and backstage) and parents of the drama club! This group is amazing and have pulled together an amazing show! Come celebrate this stellar community with song and dance! Show starts at 6pm and tickets are by donation! All proceeds go to support the drama club.

If you have a child that will be attending Arleta in the next year or two this is a great way to introduce them to the school! There are kids from kindergarten to Fifth Grade taking the stage, operating the sound, lights and props not to mention a treasure trove of parents behind the magic! Our own children helped to build props and set the stage!
