The Islamic Book Cafe

The Islamic Book Cafe We're passionate about the Islamic intellectual advancement of humankind. The Islamic Book Cafe was established October 2013. (Imam Al-Ghazali on the Intellect)

Our mission is to feed the intellect of anyone searching for beneficial knowledge which inspires a rich and close relationship to Allah, the Most High, through books, shared knowledge, and experiences. The Noble Nature of the Intellect: It will be superfluous to show the noble nature of the intellect (al'aql) especially because through it the noble nature of knowledge has been revealed. Intellect

is the source and fountainhead of knowledge as well as its foundation. Knowledge springs from it as the fruit from the tree and the light from the sun and vision from the eye. How then could that which is the means of happiness in this world and the next not be noble or how could it ever be doubted?

We dedicate this book to the / and those that are trying their best to follow Islam according to the Qur'an and Sunnah without compromise.

Before the advent of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) people would adhere to different religions; you would find the Jew, the Christian, the Magian and the polytheist.

When the prophet (peace be upon him was sent, those who accepted Islam from each of these groups would be looked at askance (with an attitude, suspicion, or disapproval). They were viewed as strangers in their individual localities and strangers amongst their tribe members.

They would be forced to conceal their Islam and would be ostracised by their own families, they would be humuliated and belittled but would bear all they met with patience and constancy.

This continued until Allah, Mighty and Magnificent, ennobled Islam; its followers and helpers multiplied, the adherents to falsehood were humiliated and subjugated. Therefore, in the beginning, Islam was something strange.

The Messenger of Allah Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) Said:

"When a Muslim - or a believer - performs wudhu and washes his face,

every sin that he looked at with his eyes comes out from his face with the water -

or with the last drop of the water.

When he washes his hands, every sin that he committed with his hands comes out from his hands with the water -

or with the last drop of the water.

When he washes his feet, every sin to which he walked with his feet comes out from his feet with the water -

or with the last drop of the water - until he emerges cleansed of sins."

Sulaiman bin Surad (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was sitting with the Prophet (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) when two men began to quarrel and curse each other and the face of one of them turned red and the veins of his neck were swollen (from rage). Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said, "I know of a word, if he were to utter that, his rage would vanish and that is: A`udhu billahi minash-Shaitan nir-rajim (I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed).'' So they (Companions) said to him: "The Prophet (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) tells you to utter: 'I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said,

"Do not envy one another; do not inflate prices by overbidding against one another; do not hate one another; do not harbour malice against one another;

and do not enter into commercial transaction when others have entered into that (transaction); but be you, O slaves of Allah, as brothers.

A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim; he neither oppresses him nor does he look down upon him, nor does he humiliate him.

Piety is here, (and he pointed to his chest three times).

It is enough evil for a Muslim to hold his brother Muslim in contempt.

All things of a Muslim are inviolable for his brother-in-faith: his blood, his property and his honour". [Muslim].

Hudhaifah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Whenever the Prophet (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) lay down for sleep at night, he would place his (right) hand under his (right) cheek and supplicate:

"Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya [O Allah, with Your Name will I die and live (wake up)].''

And when he woke up, he would supplicate:

"Al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba`da ma amatana, wa ilaihin-nushur (All praise is due to Allah, Who has brought us back to life after He has caused us to die, and to Him is the return).'' [Al-Bukhari].

Ibn Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said,

"Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward.

I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.'' [At-Tirmidhi].

Nu`man bin Bashir (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said,

"The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body.

When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Let us be true Muslims remembering that this life is temporary. Remember the definition of a Muslim is someone who submits his or her will to Allah in peace. Your wants and desires do not matter.

This worldly life doesn't matter. What matters is obedience to Allah. Love what Allah loves and hate what Allah hates. The next life is far better and everlasting.
