Hey, for my own piece of mind, I need to say that I’m not posting a painting for last week. While I did paint something, I just am not happy with it and don’t want to show the progress either. It’s back to the drawing board with a new blank canvas for me. Such is the process of artmaking.

#302 "The Blue Girl", Oil on canvas, 9"x9" Mar 1. I spent 2 weeks on this one, longer than I intended to. This one’s a bit darker narrative. The palette is very simple; Cadmium red, Prussian blue, Raw sienna, Burnt umber, white, and a touch of rose madder.

Okay, new game. This year I will post weekly starting Feb. 1st. I will still paint on the old schedule but doing mostly larger paintings. I still have a stack of 4" and 6" panels to use up, so I'll throw those in with the mix. Any painting taking longer than a week I will post the progress. Game ends Dec 27th.

#2-207 & #2-208 "Autumn Fields, Diptych", Oil on panel, 4"x4" each. Dec 27. This is it, my last work of the year! 208 little paintings! While I took quite a few days off throughout the year, I didn't quit, time to celebrate, whoo-hoo! I haven’t chosen what’s next, but stay tuned, I will continue to keep you posted. Thank you for coming with me on this whole year game, I really appreciate it.

#2-205 & #2-206 "Nature in Pink, Diptych", Oil on panel, 4"x4" each. Dec 20. This is starting to be a habit, doing two at once to make up for a missed day. This is my last month for the One Year game; perhaps I've got short-timers disease :) Here’s another inspired by Sydney Long. Notice the evil rabbit that appeared in the foreground…hmm.

#2-203 & #2-204 "Snow Steps, Diptych", Oil on panel, 4"x4" Dec 18. Someone said it might snow today, but it didn't. I thought to paint some anyway. When painting snow, you never use straight white because it is always reflecting the environment. Here I used pale purples, ice blues, and powder pinks.

#2-202 "Broken Windows, New View", Oil on panel, 4"x4" Dec 13.
Another stab at abstract. The under painting is hot pink. I used the palette knife to slather on color and then used a stick to draw into it.
