We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting LINDY WEST at the Cotton Building on July 8th! Lindy's latest hilarious and brutally honest memoir is ADULT BRACES in which she takes a cross country road trip to handle an emotional break-down. Lindy is raw and authentic and uses humor to discuss and process the uncomfortable stages in life.

Lindy West is the author of the memoir SHRILL as well as two essay collections. Lindy is a former contributing opinion writer for the New York Times and she is the co-host of the comedy podcast Text Me Back. She lives on the Olympic Peninsula in rural Washington state.

Samantha Ladwig, a librarian and former Imprint owner, will be Lindy's conversation partner for the evening. Her writing has been published by The Cut, Literary Hub, The Rumpus, Vulture, Real Simple, Vice, and others. She is a longtime book critic at BUST.

Tickets can be ordered on the Imprint Bookshop website EVENTS page. See you there!

🌞As promised, here come more books from the "summer surge", but this time we are highlighting new non-fiction titles!

📚For those readers who prefer to learn rather than escape through summer reading, consider these new titles to be inspired, informed and enlightened:

🍃NATURE'S ECHO by Thomas Crowther is for anyone who feels overwhelmed by the climate crisis and is searching for a path forward, this book replaces despair with grounded hope and conviction.

🏛In VIEW FROM THE EAST WING, Jill Biden reflects on the Biden presidency and its impact on her family. She brings you behind the scenes, from Camp David to Air Force One, from grading papers in the Rose Garden to witnessing the abrupt end of her husband's bid for reelection. This is the story of a woman dedicated to her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher--and First Lady of the United States.

🇬🇧THE BRITISH ARE COMING (GRAPHIC EDITION) by Rick Atkinson is full of riveting details and iconic stories; a tale of heroes and knaves, of sacrifice and blunder, of redemption and profound suffering. Expertly rendered in gripping graphic novel-style artwork, the battle for our nation's independence is brought to life like never before.

🇺🇸A RESISTANCE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES by Tad Stoermer encourages you to revisit the Salem Witch Trials, the Underground Railroad, and other resistance movements of American history to get a bold new understanding of how resistance shaped our past--and how its principles can change our future.

📘BLACK FREEDOM by Blair LM Kelley is the first fully illustrated history of Juneteenth and other Emancipation Day celebrations, told through photographs, art, and an engrossing narrative from an award-winning historian.

📙WHEN THE REVOLUTION COMES by Chris Smalls is a deeply personal and eye-opening account of the creation of the Amazon Labor Union. It offers both a searing exposé of what it's like to be working class in America and inspiring evidence of what is possible when the overworked, underpaid, and disempowered join together, a movement born in community.

🌞The start of June is a happy harbinger for the "summer surge" - or the flood of high profile, highly anticipated, buzzy summer reading options - and we are here for it!

📚In fact, we have so many noteworthy new releases this week that we will be featuring them in multiple posts instead of just one.

🌊Let's begin with a wave of fiction, including novels by some of the big names in literary fiction . . .

LAND by Maggie O'Farrell is a novel about separation and reunion, tragedy and recovery, colonization and rebellion. As spellbinding and varied as the landscape that inspired it, LAND is, above all, a story of survival, for our times and for all time.

WHISTLER by Ann Patchett is a story about two adults looking back over the choices they made, and the choices that were made for them. Beautiful in its simplicity, it is ultimately about how love endures, and how the feeling of being known by one other person can change everything.

🏖 Beach Reads:
ROAD TRIP by Mary Kay Andrews is a summer journey shaped by family secrets, long-buried history, and charming men with Irish accents.

MARION by Leah Rowan is a twist on Hitchcock's iconic classic Psycho--where the leading lady doesn't die, but instead turns the knife on Norm, kicking off a crime spree that turns the silver screen victim into a heroine for our times.

🦄Fantasy Finds:
THE UNICORN HUNTERS by Katherine Arden is a rich and epic novel that turns the real history of a remarkable woman into an unforgettable tale of mystery, enchantment, and the price of power.

In THE IRRESISTIBLE URGE TO FALL FOR YOUR ENEMY by Brigitte Knightley, Loyalties are tested in this slow burn, enemies-to-lovers romantasy following an assassin and a healer.

📕Gothic Horror:
In THE CHILDREN by Melissa Albert, the estranged adult children of a legendary author, written into their dead mother's beloved fantasy series, must contend with the vine-like creep of legacy, memory, and magic.

HUNGER & THIRST by Claire Fuller is an "atmospheric, psychologically vivid, and unputdownable" new novel of complicated friendship and the desperate need to belong.

Plus, a stack of new paperbacks to pack into your travel bags!
