Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry has closed for the balance of the 2024 summer season to allow for much needed, extensive repairs. Most of the fleet is in dry dock in St. Ignace. Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry is honoring the Star Line tickets and running many extra departures so that everyone is being accommodated.

Shepler's ticket scanners cannot read the Star Line tickets, so they must be exchanged for Shepler's tickets at the ticket offices.

Star Line was purchased by the same firm which owns Shepler's earlier this summer. Although the new owners knew that the Star Line infrastructure needed extensive work, they discovered that even more work was required than expected and that they could not maintain a high standard of service.
