The PGICA Turkey hopes for pardon!
PUNTA GORDA – The Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association Turkey has been getting just a bit worried about Thanksgiving. He keeps hearing that his little feathered life might be in jeopardy.
“It’s hard to believe, so Turkey has been spending his time doing normal turkey stuff like scratching in the dirt, gobbling, and basically strutting around the property,” said Teri Ashley, PGICA Executive Director. “However, we can tell that Turkey is concerned. Maybe it's not too late and he will somehow receive a special pardon, just in the nick of time.”
Ashley explained that a pardon consideration will occur at 11 a.m. Wednesday during the Weekly~Wednesday~Market. The decision is scheduled to be presented to the public from the steps outside of the PGICA lobby, 2001 Shreve Street in Punta Gorda.
“The turkey will probably still be outside scouring the ground for bugs and old French fries,” Ashley surmised when asked. “He’ll be flapping and hopping, just showing off as usual. But then he might need to hide and beg for his life.”
Meanwhile, pardon attendees are invited to browse among the indoor and outdoor displays at the Weekly~Wednesday~Market from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. to shop for the holidays and grab a bite to eat.
“No, we do NOT have any turkey vendors,” Ashley said. “That would be a little insensitive, don’t you think? Turkey needs community support … he needs support for his pardon.”
