On Thursday, November 4, 2021 K9 Argo and his handler successfully passed the certification course through the Virginia Police Work Dog Association and became the newest police K9 Unit for the Poquoson Police Department.
That Friday, November 5, 2021, K9 Argo became ill and was admitted into an emergency animal hospital. It took several days of testing and medical scans before a plan was set in place by a team of skilled veterinarians. K9 Argo underwent surgery to remove an abscess in one of his lungs that had developed for an unknown reason. K9 Argo spent over a week in veterinary care and has now been released in the care of his handler. K9 Argo remains in good spirits; the Poquoson Police Department, on the behalf of K9 Argo, appreciates your thoughts while we care for our good friend through recovery.
