To understand the vision for Viola's Attic one must understand the company's namesake, my grandmother Viola. Just as many Americans that lived through the Great Depression, my grandmother felt it important to save and to share. She was recycling before anyone even knew what recycling meant, she saved every gift she was given and if they were not displayed to share with anyone that entered her home
then they were lovingly wrapped and well preserved in the attic of her farmhouse. I have many wonderful childhood memories of hours spent with my grandmother going through boxes of family treasures she would pull from that magical space my family simply calls "Gram's Attic". My husband Sean and I wanted to create a shop that represented our customers lifestyle, whether seeking a custom chair for their coastal home, a one-of-a-kind pillow to express a husband's love of fishing, a leather bracelet similar to the one they saw on Kenny Chesney's website, a durable area rug for a child's room, personalized flip flops and a matching cover-up to wear to Tybee, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® to make a beloved family heirloom match their style, a unique chandelier for their dining room, or a memorable gift to celebrate a special occasion. In offering our customers such a variety of treasures, it was apparent we had a bit of a dilemma...what do we name a shop that offers so many treasures it simply can't be narrowed down to being described as just a home decor and accessory shop, a ladies boutique, a paint and interior design studio, or a gift shop. Thinking back to my grandmother's attic and how I loved exploring it as a child, never quite sure of the treasures I would find, it became immediately clear our shop was just as special, just as unique, just as magical a place as my grandmother's attic, so.....Welcome to Viola's Attic!
