Decent mutton snapper caught at 280ft on a slow jig! 🎣 The slow current made it easy to drop an 80g jig. After a few minutes of adrenaline-pumping fight, this beauty was on the boat! Huge thanks to my SOM S2T OTA Garage L50 for the best reel that can handle anything! 💪

New personal best alert! Just landed a 21-inch Sea Trout and I'm stoked! 🎣 Took hundreds of casts, dozens of lure changes, and three different spots, but the Yo-Zuri 3Ds minnow 2 - 3/4 in ghost color did the trick. First cast after switching lures, and boom! What a day! 😎

Saltwater therapy hits different. 🌊 That pull is why we do it! Catch of the day. 🎣

Slow bass fishing afternoon. The action was pretty slow but we somehow managed to catch a couple of finicky bass 🎣
Thanks for the best gear and lures

An unweighted claw with super slow action is the solution for winter.

We hit the sticks out past Okeechobee at some ungodly hour last night proper middle-of-the-night mission. Since the ocean hasn’t been giving us anything lately, we figured the swamps were our best bet.
The bite was actually pretty hot while it was pitch black out, but the second the sun started peeking through, they went ghost on us. We had to really fight for every fish after daybreak. Ended up putting a handful of bass in the boat, including one absolute unit that went about 5 pounds.
Aside from the bass, the species list was all over the place gar, some panfish, and a couple of tilapia. I even had a bowfin right at my fingertips, but the thing thrashed and managed to unhook itself right as I was reaching for it.
Pretty productive run considering how dead the salt has been. Definitely beats sitting at home.

Tough Day, Tiny Bait: How the Rapala J-5 Saved the Session 🎣
The Snook were out today, but man, they were playing hard to get! Despite perfect conditions, the bite was non-existent. They were completely passive, turning their noses up at every standard-sized lure in my box.
When the "tried and true" methods fail, it’s time to downsize and pivot.
I switched over to the Rapala Jointed J-5 (2-inch), and it was a total game-changer. By using an ultra-slow steady retrieve, that signature broken-back action provided just enough finesse to trigger a strike. It turns out, when they aren't hungry for a meal, you have to tempt them with a snack!
Strategy beat stubbornness today. Never underestimate the power of a small jointed minnow on a slow day!
Key Takeaways for Today’s Bite:
The Problem: Passive Snook ignoring standard lures.
The Solution: Downsizing to a 2-inch profile.
The Technique: Extremely slow, steady retrieve to maximize the jointed action.
The MVP: Rapala Jointed J-5.
