Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:

“It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones.

“There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion.

“If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the ‘medicine closet’ and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That’s why you should always have a nutrition choice!

“Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.”

We had a great 'Return and Reopening' yesterday! Glad the store was open. Thanks to those who really, really helped in dusting. The plan is to be open from Wednesday or Thursday through to Saturday for the near future.

Beverly continues to be happy at Garfield County Hospital. The medical staff there is wonderful.

Again, Thanks to folks from Pomeroy and those who just stopped by in their travels.

Castlemoyle Books will be open Saturday, Feb 28! Beverly is in the capable, caring hands of the staff at Garfield County Hospital and so I don't have to driver to Spokane (Yippee!)

Since we've been shuttered for close to 6 weeks, I think I'm going to have a 'dust a shelf, get a discount' sale.

Castlemoyle Books WILL be open Saturday, Jan 16, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.!
Two of our daughters will be spending Saturday with Beverly at the rehab hospital in Spokane, giving me the opportunity to catch up and open the store for the day.

Just a reminder as we move through the summer season of yard sales and estate sales that we happily accept donations of unsold books, records, vhs and dvd, magazines, etc. Anything that people use to communicate their message to other people. Just give us a call at 509-843-5009. You can drop them off or with a bit of notice, we can come and get them. This rehoming is a public service and done at no charge to you.
