Shadows on the River: Cryptids of the Ohio Valley
Join Appalachian folklorist and Cryptozoologist Lacey Williams on Friday, June 26 at 6:00 PM for a program on the cryptids of the Ohio Valley.
Come discuss some of the creatures said to hide in our shadows. Bring your own encounters, or the stories passed down through your family, to share with everyone.
This event is free and open to all.
Lacey Williams is an Appalachian folklorist, Cryptozoologist, researcher, and writer focused on the cultural traditions and legends of the Appalachian Mountains. She holds masters degrees in both historical anthropology and Cryptozoology. Her work explores how folklore, regional history, and storytelling shape community identity and connect us to our ancestors.
Lacey is a founding member of the Cryptid Women’s Society and frequently speaks at community events about Appalachian legends, unexplained phenomena, and Appalachian traditions & superstitions. Her research examines the overlap between traditional folklore and modern cryptid sightings.
Through her writings, speaking, and community outreach, Lacey is dedicated to preserving Appalachian storytelling traditions while encouraging curiosity about the mysteries that continue to live in the region’s forests, and preserving its wild spaces that protect the mountain menagerie.
