Each year thousands of people attend the Holiday Spectacular + Christmas Train Show at the InfoAge Science & History Museums in Wall, NJ. One of the questions we often hear is “how do I make the most of it?” This year, we have five suggestions to maximize your enjoyment of the large display and the many museums on the campus.
1) Just coming for the trains? Arrive after 2:30pm. Most visitors who are only interested in the trains require anywhere from 1 – 2 hours to fully enjoy all the train displays on the campus (including the holiday rooms and the permanent model railroad exhibit). After 2:30, the crowd is a little lighter and you’ll have more time to absorb the trains. This is also a good time for families with young children who will have less of a wait to meet the jolly old elf in the red suit.
2) Save the “hands on” trains for later in your visit. Once kids (and many adults) start to run our trains on the specially designated hands-on layouts, it can be hard to get them to move on.
3) Want to experience it all? Be there when doors open at Noon. The InfoAge campus includes an incredible array of individual museums, most of which will be open all 6 days of the train show. The Space Exploration Center (with the giant “Diana” radar), Shipwreck Museum, Radio Technology Museum, Computer History Museum, Military Technology Museum (with tanks and other vehicles), and Monmouth Fire Museum are complimented by exhibits of military history, women in the military, and African-American engineers and scientists who worked at the site when it was the Army’s Camp Evans.
We suggest 3-4 hours to enjoy everything the campus has to offer. Pro-tip: start with the museums at the back of the campus and work your way forward, saving the multiple train buildings for the second half of your visit. It’s all included in your admission!
4) Wear comfortable shoes. The campus is spread out so you will be doing some walking. Most buildings are connected by inside hallways. Buildings are handicapped accessible, too. Call ahead if special arrangements are required.
5) Don’t worry about comfort and convenience. Need a pick-me-up? Snacks and drinks are available in the gift shop. Restrooms are located throughout the InfoAge site. There are places to sit and rest, as well.
The 2025 Holiday Spectacular + Christmas Train Show is open 12-5pm Saturdays and Sundays December 6&7, 13&14, and 20&21, 2025. The InfoAge Science & History Museums are located at 2201 Marconi Road in Wall, NJ.
