What’s eating your plants? 🪲🌿
If you’re noticing irregular notches chewed along the edges of your leaves, black vine beetles may be the culprit. These beetles do most of their feeding at night, so you’ll often spot the damage long before you ever see the pest itself.
And unfortunately, what’s happening underground can be even worse. Black vine beetle larvae feed on roots and tubers, quietly damaging plants below the soil before symptoms become obvious above ground. Lilacs, peonies, roses, euonymus, and many other landscape plants can be especially susceptible.
Because black vine beetles are notoriously difficult to control, we recommend a systemic treatment such as Ferti-lome Tree & Shrub Systemic Insect Drench. Applied to the soil, the active ingredient is absorbed through the roots and moves throughout the plant, helping target both the hidden larvae in the soil and adult beetles when they feed.
🌿 Keep an eye out for:
• Notched or scalloped leaf edges
• Unexplained plant decline
• Damage that seems to appear overnight
