It's Wednesday, and I missed the two things Tuesday posts yesterday.🙃

First, Father's Day is Sunday and if your dad has a sweet tooth, we have you covered. We're bringing in large apple, cherry, and peach pies, plenty of gooey butters & coffee cakes, and both regular and iced angel food cakes for the weekend. There's also a nice selection of books, Amish chocolates & candies, sodas, flags, soaps, and car freshners that make nice manly gifts.......I can even shop with you if needed.

And secondly, we're sharing our 4th of July hours early so everyone can plan accordingly. There won't be any bakery deliveries on the 4th of July so we will be closed. We will have full cases on Friday the 3rd and Sunday the 5th, but the mercantile will be closed on Saturday the 4th of July......and we'll remind you often.

And in hotel news, Don put a few old rocking chairs on the porch of the hotel and the two of us had a little meeting there last night. Believe me when I say that things are happening inside the building but it's just boring things like plumbing, electric, and drywall......my part of paint, wallpaper, lighting, and fixtures is where the excitement is for me.
I will admit it's a great porch to sit on and watch the world go by.......even for a slow Tuesday evening.

🇺🇸Fourth of July weekend we will be closed on Saturday the 4th of July but regular hours Friday (so you can get ready) and Sunday (because everyone needs Sunday donuts).
🍩We can't be open without bakery goods because we hate to see all of the disappointed faces when we tell them no pastries......it's a sad thing to see.

It's Saturday, the most delicious day of the weekend. 😁

Cannolis, cream horns, danish, carrot cakes, mousse cakes, donuts, and more are in the cases and everyone's favorite blueberry cake donut is here, too.

The new signs Pat made us are up and just as wonderful as I knew they'd be......it's like we're an old fashioned department store now. 🥰

And the patriotic selections just keep getting better with the addition of colorful metal signs proudly made in Ohio.....perfect for adding a little red, white, & blue to your home both inside and outside. 🇺🇸

It's two things Tuesday.

First, you'll want to participate in the Greenville Chamber of Commerce's Shop Local BoCo Bingo.....since you're hopefully supporting Bond County anyway. 😉
Shop, dine, write reviews, start following local business pages, or send selfies from chamber events to get your card filled.....it's that easy. There's even a coverall, too. Once your card is ready, notify the Greenville Chamber through email at [email protected] or call 618-312-7270 to be registered for the drawing on July 31st at the Bond County Fair. Spend your summer trying a few new places and supporting your old favorites.....everyone will be happy to see you. 😁

And secondly, more patriotic flags have arrived and there's even a few new choices. With this being the 250th Anniversary of the United States you can leave your flag up through December......they'll be extra colorful against the white snow. 🇺🇸

And in other news, I ordered hanging flag holders but they look like they'd also make perfect sign holders for the mercantile. I asked Pat next door at Forhan's Woodworking if he could make me some small wooden signs for the categories on the wall and they couldn't be more perfect. 🥰
After a coat of sealer and some black chains, we'll look like a real department store on Friday! Looking for local honey? It's over in the Jelly & Honey section. Amish noodles? They're with the Soup & Pasta.

It's Sunday, and it's a little steamy out there already.

The cases are full once again and here's your reminder to pick up an angel food, peanut coffee cake, or gooey butter cake for later in the week.....you'll be happy you did. 😉

There's a few Americana match boxes that pair wonderfully with any of Jan's candles and Jennifer C. brought in a few styles of kitchen towels.....don't forget the hostess for those summer barbecues and dinners. 🇺🇸

We've added a new stand for the children's book selections and now you can easily see all of Molly Martin's "Steilyn" series and our latest addition by Simon and Chrissy Lugge "Norman, At Your Service ".....both local authors. 🥰
There's also a nice selection of American history & local history books perfect for summer reading. 😊

And for those traveling I70, we're located at exit 36 and nestled between Highland, Illinois and Greenville, Illinois and if you're needing to stop and stretch your legs, find a souvenir, and eat, we have all of that and more.....and we'll be happy to see you. 😁

It's Saturday, the most delicious day of the weekend at the mercantile. 😊

If you're looking for cool summer treats, we suggest chocolate cream horns, cannolis, chilled carrot cakes, and chocolate mousse cakes......and all are perfect for sharing.
Foccocias, sourdoughs, and half loaves of 7 grain, cinnamon raisin, and cranberry walnut are on the rack and there's a few bags of fresh croissants which pair perfectly with chicken salad, jams, and pretty much everything else. 🥐

Now that the weather is heating up you'll want to have plenty of soaps on hand to keep you fresh and New Direction has a wonderful variety on hand. You'll want to check out their whipped tallow products while you're here, too. 🐐

And Sue has new primitive inspired pieces including a few wreaths and a handsome Uncle Sam with an eagle......too adorable. 🇺🇸 🦅

It's already June and it's two things Tuesday. 🙃

First, Robyn Hargan made a wonderful 2x2 barn quilt commemorating the country's 250th anniversary and we're giving it away on June 28th so the winner will have plenty of time to get it up and ready for the 4th of July. It's easy to enter the drawing, just write your name and phone number on the back of your receipt and drop it in the jar at the counter.....that's it. With the drawing being a few weeks away you'll want be sure to enter every time you stop in. 🇺🇸

And secondly, Friday is National Donut Day so we will be joining the fun and giving away a glaze donut to every customer while supplies last. Who doesn't like free donuts? 😊

In other news, the patriotic flags have been such a hit we've almost sold out. Rest assured there's an order on the way with a few new styles added, too.
Speaking of patriotic, Sue's primitive Uncle Sam pieces are too adorable to put away and should be left out all of the time. Add a few Easter eggs, pumpkins, or a Christmas tree to keep them festive year round. 😁

And here's a reminder that carrot cakes, macarons, chocolate mousse cakes, cannolis, and cake pops are available on Fridays now throughout the summer.....start your weekend snacking early.

It's Sunday.....and the cases are filled once again. If you're wondering how we're always fresh and full, the secret is having five bakery deliveries every weekend.......and that's a lot of deliciousness. 😁

Coffee cakes, gooey butters, and angel food cakes are perfect for Sunday visits and there's plenty of all this morning.
Danish, cannolis, donuts, macarons and so much more makes a sweet ending to the weekend or a delightful start to the week ahead. 😉

Mac & Beans locally roasted coffee is in stocked and we've added Yoder's noodles to the soup & pasta section. (Don is the only person I know who doesn't like pasta. 🙃)

There's a nice variety Rabbit Creek Gourmet cookie, dessert breads, and scone mixes that are perfect summer treats and pairing them with a cookie cutter will add a little fun to the snack. Speaking of snacks, our old shopping cart/snack cart has a few new additions, too. 😊

And I had mentioned to Robyn Hargan that I would like a barn quilt commemorating the country's 250th to give away 4th of July weekend and she dropped it off yesterday.........I love it! ❤️
