Wisconsin’s h**p industry is at a crossroads. The countdown is on.
There are only 176 days left until the federal h**p restrictions penned by Mitch McConnell will take effect — threatening farmers, processors, small businesses, and jobs across our state and nation. Anything with more than .4mg of THC per package will be illegal - this includes full spectrum CBD.
H**p is a massive industry nationwide, supporting agriculture, manufacturing, wellness products, fiber, grain, and rural economies. Here in Wisconsin, the nearly 450 licensed h**p producers have likely already planted crops for this season, investing time, labor, and money with no certainty about what comes next after November.
The proposed federal changes could strip away an estimated $700 million in economic impact from Wisconsin alone and devastate businesses that believed in the future of this plant.
For many farmers and business owners, the uncertainty feels overwhelming. Families who built businesses around h**p now face impossible questions about whether they’ll survive another season. Waldo H**p Works will be closing November 12th, 2026 if policies don't change.
H**p farmers and business owners deserve clarity — not chaos. And the customers we serve deserve to know if they can still purchase the products they know that help them so much.
Here's where you come in: write or call your federal representatives. Tell them your own personal story about why you use h**p-derived THC or CBD.
Should my 80 year old neighbor have to find a black market dealer? Or drive across state lines to access the medicine they use daily?
The clock is ticking.
