~At the same press conference in '87, Neal Rodin announced that the renovation & expansion work for Shore Mall would begin in the Spring of '88. The plans for the mall call for it to be fully enclosed & for a 500,000 sq/ft addition to be built. The existing mall would also be renovated. The roof would be opened & skylights throughout will provide an "atrium" effect with glass, trees and shrubs.

~On Dec. 24, 1987, owners of Shore Mall delivered on a promise & gave a special Christmas present to the merchants, & to the South Jersey communities, when they announced that a deal had been reached with BOSCOV'S, a major dept. store chain based in Reading, PA. Albert Boscov dressed like Santa Claus, told an eager crowd that work would begin immediately, & that the new Boscov's would open in Sept. '88. Shore Mall was to be the first NJ location, & the 15th store for the very community involved & promotionally oriented Boscov organization.
Today, Boscov's patrons still visit by the hundreds daily! which offers every need from shoes, appearal, appliances, travel, outdoor, toys, furniture, gift wrap, ticketmaster & more.

~The next couple of years saw the elimination of the Tilton Circle and the Shore Mall intersection changed with traffic lights installed by fall of 1980. Kiosks sprouted up in Shore Mall and the number of tenants increased to 73. Demand for space was increasing all the time.

~With the passage of the Casino Gambling Referendum in 1976 & the opening of Resorts International Casino in Atlantic City in 1978, & the prospects of 9 or 10 more casinos in the future, the entire economic picture for the area turned around. The increase of jobs & the population growth of the communities surrounding Atlantic City brought more and more people and more and more traffic past Shore Mall.
