Looking for something a bit unusual? This brooch and earrings came to us separately but look how well compliment each other! Maybe they were meant to be? Made by the Miracle company in Birmingham, England.

is shoogly!

Shoogly is an adjective meaning wobbly or unsteady.

It's best known as part of the popular Scottish idiom "yer jaiket's on a shoogly peg", literally meaning "your jacket's on a shaky coat hook".

This might be said to someone on thin ice!

Thank goodness for paper fish!! But, wouldn't a fish in a dress be fun???😆🐠

Until about the mid 1970s a traditional first foot gift in Dundee was a herring wearing a dress!

The “first foot” refers to the first person to cross the threshold of a home after midnight on Hogmanay. Often, they bring with them a gift and good luck for the year ahead.

The "dressed herring" could be bought at stalls in town and the fancier the frock, the better. The herring was then hung above the front door.

This tradition was revived by some in recent years, but paper fish were used instead for hygiene reasons... and to spare everyone the smell.
