Ujamaa Collective is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded with a social mission to act as a catalyst to advance Africana Women by providing a fair trade marketplace for cultural, artistic, and entrepreneurial exchange through cooperative economics in the Historic Hill District and beyond. We operate a beautiful boutique and creative classroom offering handcrafted products from Black artists and entrepreneurs, as well as opportunities for art production and cultural services.

Sustainability looks like consistent practice in service of community.
It asks us not only to upcycle fabrics and materials, but also to upcycle the ideologies that no longer serve a future where we all belong.
Deep gratitude to the community builders, artists, and curious minds who shared their creativity and wisdom as we completed Eco-Essence Phase 2. The work continues. 🌱✨

Facilitated by Ujamaa Collective staff - artist - and member Sheba G, students explored creative reuse through textile design, transforming reclaimed materials into original artworks. Their textile creations were later transformed into tapestries and canvases that celebrate imagination, sustainability, and artistic expression.

We are honored to share their work with the community.

What if the materials we discard still have stories to tell?

Eco-Essence explores the transformative power of reclaimed textiles, turning discarded materials into art, fashion, adornment, and home décor. Through creative reuse, we reduce waste while honoring the beauty, craftsmanship, and histories woven into the materials that surround us.

Join the Ujamaa Collective Fashion Circle and community artisans as we unveil our Eco-Essence–inspired collections, featuring:

Accessories & Jewelry
Home Décor
Clothing

Experience how sustainability and creativity come together to give new life to forgotten materials.
