The Tree of Life and Becoming 16"

Now coated in shiny, durable resin varnish.

I have always been fascinated by tree imagery and creating trees in my art. In 2023 I created this, my first in what became the Trees of Life collection "The Tree of Life and Becoming." This detailed beauty comes to life with the ample application of genuine crystals, including clear quartz, amethyst, fluorite, aventurine, tigers eye, lapis lazuli and more. While painting this, I had a sense that painting this tree, at that moment, was exactly what I needed to be doing.

It earned its name (Becoming) by forging the path for this collection and because I was embracing myself/my truth and evolving as an artist and as a woman/mother/lover/daughter/friend/creator in my continued healing journey toward self-love, self-acceptance, spirituality, loving connection, and joyful abundance and fulfillment.

I wish for you a journey of becoming that is resonant, rewarding and connected in all the ways that you desire for this life.

The Tree of Life and Jubilance 10"

The Tree of Life and Jubilance's joyful, wild abandon probably flowed out of me because I created it during my first week as a full-time artist, which included several sales of original paintings, creating a feeling that life is ripe with possibilities for joy, contentment and success.

Plus, I love a cherry blossom tree. My parents have one in their backyard and we look forward every year to those 2 weeks when it blooms - and the eventual blanket of pink petals that cover the ground as if in some magical fantasy land. At the risk of bringing the energy down a bit on this anecdote, the tree - which we’d been anticipating for some time - happened to bloom during my sister Shana's funeral, after which we all gathered in that backyard to remember her. I’m pretty sure that was no accident. 😉

Congratulations to fab writer Emma Riva Petrichor Magazine and SKYPOMP on a packed launch party and Petrichor’s beautiful first print issue 👏😍 (I’ve enjoyed the digital version for a while and highly recommend for fresh takes on Pittsburgh arts.)

I had such fun connecting with old friends, meeting new ones, and getting my hands on a copy of the magazine.

It’s so easy to stay in our own little worlds these days, so I’m especially glad I did the thing — experienced a new venue downtown, saw some unique art, and celebrated something worth celebrating. 🥳

P.S. My purple hair is finally back, and it just feels so right. 💜😆
