I have a concept I’m working on to hopefully submit to a submission open call. Even if it’s not accepted for a particular theme, I think it’s still me. That’s been an important balance to strike while I rest, but remain creative.

Another complicated day of the year, just like most holidays…I haven’t had a dad either in a long time. I’ve done a lot of work and a lot of healing but most of the time I have to be both parents for myself. So yes, I’m DADDY 👹
Like with last month, I thought I could do a Faja post to mirror my MAMAN list, but tbh a lot of the male figures I look up to in life are chosen family I see as brothers or chaotic uncles, not a circle or pantheon like my mamans.

Little late to the game but never too late to let you all know that I always try to foster a safe space for all kinds of folks no matter your gender or who you love, that’s none of my business! I’ve always been the token straight, finding community in the LGBTQ because of similar upbringing experiences, artistic pursuits, ways of thinking etc. and it’s been in this community that I’ve always felt welcome to be myself while I’m over here being quietly nonbinary in recent years.

I love my talented, creative friends!!! When I began my endeavor of the hiatus I wanted to take some steps to set myself up for opportunities once I emerged refreshed and recharged. One of those was asking my dear friend Tori (Tori Stipcak) if we could do a product photoshoot of some of my work that shows the world my art lives in. And with similar design aesthetics, Tori knew exactly what kind of vibe I was going for.
It’s honestly been difficult to pin down how to describe where my work fits in and maybe that’s the beauty of it because I love trying new things all the time to sharpen my skills. But I think my work lives in this kind of atmosphere:
Les Is More 894 focuses on sustainable textile art and apparel, hearkening to the Victorian obsession with the natural world, think a naturalist’s home, but modernizes the erudite predisposition with a sense of whimsy and fun. A proper mix of traditional domestic arts with a kick.
Tori will be doing a product photoshoot tutorial this coming July at Creative Chem Co for local makers who may just have access to their phone camera and lemme say you don’t wanna miss it.

🐲MAKING MYTHOS🐲
Today has been so whack. I think this is the final push of my body crapping out after pushing myself, nauseous and vomiting and all that fun stuff. Trying to push out all the bad luck and negative energy that’s catapulting at me this week.
In the interim, I’m liking creating tiny creatures and myths on some smaller hoops like this dragon and sorceress.
