A small city on the shores of the Saginaw Bay is holding its annual Pinconning CheeseTown Festival on June 19-21, continuing an unusual but beloved Michigan tradition that has lasted decades.

Pinconning’s history with cheese began in 1915, when German immigrant Dan Horn created his own type of cheese that could be stored at temperatures above 40 degrees. His daughter, Inez Wilson, worked to popularize the formula, and slowly the area filled up with dairy: Several cheese-centered stores popped up in Pinconning’s small downtown, and the city started hosting the festival.

Well dear friends, it is officially the last twelve days before Christmas, at least for us here at TLC Treasures. The last day we will be open until spring is December 20th.

We will be closed tomorrow December 4th, attending a memorial service.
