The section of Little River Road between the Townsend Wye and Elkmont is scheduled to be closed from 7 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 8, and Tuesday, June 9, so that the national park can conduct essential roadway maintenance.

• On June 9, the park will close Metcalf Bottoms to Elkmont Junction from 7 a.m. to noon. Visitors can use Wears Valley Road between Line Springs Road and Pigeon Forge as a detour.

Popular sites including Elkmont, Metcalf Bottoms and Cades Cove will remain accessible during this closure but may require detours. Visitors should plan for increased travel time.

Motor homes, buses and vans longer than 25 feet, as well as any passenger vehicles towing a trailer, are prohibited on Wear Cove Gap Road from the park boundary to and including the Metcalf Bottoms bridge.

After a busy weekend, introducing our laser engraving company to the fire service, we needed a little bit of together downtime so we headed out to Cade’s Cove. We were a little disappointed with the number of bears, but the cove was not real busy at all. But of course, there were folks there who were blocking up the road and keeping everyone else from being able to see things. Jon had to make me behave lol. This was the first time I’ve ever seen a rattlesnake in person. This was in the parking lot of the John Oliver cabin. I was very surprised it was just right there in the open. The bear that you see by itself walking through the grass, was also located at the Jon Oliver cabin. We were walking towards the cabin when passersby told us that they had witnessed a bear on the trail. He had actually moved along to between the trail and the paved trail in the little tree line there as we passed quietly. He then made his way through the grass field and into the wood line. It was a nice relaxing day and we took Rich Mountain Road home.

Oh my word!!!

I’ve never had birria tacos before & I must say, I was floored at how good they were! I love shredded beef tacos, but since most restaurants don’t carry it, I usually do chicken. I can’t tell you how excited I was to get some.

We stopped at the knoxvillebirriaboss at the Wears Valley Social - Food Truck Park tonight. I was like, $12 for 2 tacos? I’m going to be hungry! So I got the $16 tacos & ramen. Waaaay too much food. I ate the 2 tacos & was full to the brim. I thought the ramen was just ramen, but there’s onion, cilantro, meat & lots of cheese in it & it was only $4 more!!! I hope it tastes ok to reheat tomorrow because I’m about to blow!!

They are sold out of chicken today, but that’s ok….the shredded beef was to die for! Go there now & bypass the lines in Pigeon Forge to eat in the quiet valley.

🚫🔌 URGENT SCAM ALERT: Sevier County Electric System (SCES)

Imminent Disconnection Scam! 🔌🚫
Hey neighbors! I wanted to give everyone a heads-up because they called me today. Some real shady folk are calling local businesses and citizens claiming to be Sevier County Electric System. They tell you your power is about to be cut off and you need to pay immediately.

🚨 Here's what you need to know: 🚨

1️⃣ They sound LEGIT. The call I received used my business name and address. It was in perfect English, no obvious accents.

2️⃣ I knew it was a scam because... My utilities are billed under my personal name, not my business. Plus, I literally overpaid my bill before the due date.

3️⃣ HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF:

✅ Do NOT provide payment information. If they ask, refuse.

✅ Do NOT say "Yes" if they offer to transfer you to billing. They may record your "Yes" to use as fraudulent authorization for other charges. Tell them: "No, I will call the utility company myself." (They may even act polite when you do this, saying "Sure, you can do that if you'd like.") just to sound official.

✅ Hang up and check your official bill. You can also log into your SCES account/app to verify your actual balance.

✅ SCES does NOT call to threaten shutoffs. Any disconnection notice will appear on your printed bill, along with a cut-off date or you will receive an automated call.

4️⃣ THEY ARE AWARE. Sevier County Electric System has received over 250 calls about this today alone.

Please share this with your local family and friends. Don't let these scammers win!
