Bumkins Silicone Grip Dish‍

This Bumkins silicone suction plate is the perfect all-rounder. The suction base sticks to most kitchen surfaces (preventing kids from sending it flying mid-meal) and it's divided into three sections, ideal for serving different snacks, separating savoury and sweet things, or for sorting different foods into different compartments for fussy eaters. It's got nice deep sides which make it easier for little ones who are still getting used to using a spoon to scoop up smaller pieces. It's made from silicone, too, a naturally bacteria-resistant and toxic-free material that's easy to clean and is much less susceptible to wear and tear than regular plastic. The plate comes in four fun colours (plus a very cute unicorn design), is stain-resistant and top-shelf dishwasher safe. It's specially-sized for toddler portions, but we don't see why you couldn't use it for a baby too. A worthy purchase.

Melamine

These plates are really easy to work with and they can be plastered with all sorts of interesting designs. You will see these types of plates with cartoon characters on them and many interesting floral designs. Plates such as these are very appealing for being easy to use and being able to stand up to a significant amount of punishment. A lot of people use these types of plates for their children because they won’t be able to break the plates or hurt themselves.

Earthenware

Earthenware is manufactured from unrefined clay exposed to low temperature. Because of its organic composition, it is rather sensitive to temperature changes.

While it looks heavy, it is actually lightweight, delicate, and can easily be scratched. The unglazed earthenware is usually not dishwasher safe, while its glazed variant is, and can be used in microwave and conventional ovens.

Its most unique property is that because of its natural look, it gives a rustic vibe, which is suitable for a more homey, organic establishment.

Rare Canton Famille Rose US Grant Type Fish Plate

Tongzhi Era, 1861-75 lively scene decorated in vivid enamels with large central fish with smaller fish and sea life in center and border. 10 in. Diameter. "One of the most iconic of the 19th Chinese export porcelain styles now known as "Canton Famille Rose" is the famous "President Ulysses S. Grant-Fish" pattern, which the historical record shows was given as a dinner service to the then former President and his wife when the couple became the first Presidential couple to visit China during a "round the world" cruise they took in 1879. The dinner service is known to have consisted of twenty four plates and two serving mazarines, decorated with what has long been considered a "unique" rendering of a fish, inspired by a Limoges pattern but which retains its bond to the Rose Medallion pattern then ubiquitous on Chinese export painted porcelains." D. Nadler, China To Order: Focusing on the XIXth Century and Surveying Polychrome Porcelain Produced During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1908), p. 166, fig. 206. Unbeknownst in the literature is the fact that the Chinese manufacturers of the famous "President Ulysses S. Grant-Fish" pattern "recycled" the central image of the fish and produced and sold at least one additional service of dinner plates with that iconic fish but surrounded by an even more interesting border composed of various other forms of aquatic life. The present lot consists of one dinner plate from this rare, unusual, beautiful, and important example of late 19th century Chinese export.

They create a very natural vibe and if you are into being environmentally friendly, then using plates such as these is quite sensible. This is the good stuff; delicate, highly stylized, and verboten for use unless you have the very best foot to put forward. It’s what you put on your wedding registry, and it’s what may have set in your grandmother’s curio cabinet, seemingly keeping watch over trinkets of various preciousness. It doesn’t necessarily come from lovely bones. Its base is a chemical composition of clay, feldspar, quartz, and kaolin, although other materials can be occasionally included.

If you’ve ever taken an art class, you’re undoubtedly a tad bit familiar with ceramics. Even if you aren’t, you probably know it’s ubiquitous when you enter a home goods store or the kitchen section of a larger department store. Of course, it’s important that you recognize that the term ceramics is an over-arching term that allows plenty of room for different styles to bubble up to the surface.
