So… The last sun has set for Purse Line Bait… I have started this several times this last 3 months. It is sooo hard to think of all the Thank You acknowledgments that I wish to express.. Sorry my mind is feeble after the 25? Plus years at this crazy business..
For starters I owe so much to my family.. Both mine and my in-laws! Emily and Mark for countless hours without me, maybe that was nice for them !! Dad and Julie for countless hours either watching Emily or Julie for putting up with Dad being at our house more than his own .Mom for years of listening to me whine about the lack of time for fun. And in-laws for many times watching Emily! This is also meant to include awesome friends who kept inviting me to things even though I cancelled plans A LOT !
I wish to thank my past employees and those that were there at the end. Please forgive me if I have forgotten you!! Paul York who helped us open Sebasco ( wow he even remains a friend after all THAT BS) Dean Ventry and John McGuiggan for 15 + years of service that I am sure felt like more! We ran a tight ship boys and I soo much appreciated your work ethics and your friendship! You had a lot to put up with from me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart !! I wish to thank the many past employees, Paul M,Chase M , Al H, Lendall A, Wally Baby Lucas. Ed Collins Steve, Jamie, Coot ,Beth,Hilch the list is far too long!! PLEASE , I do remember your help, even if you are not listed here !! Truly I thank each and every one ! None of what we accomplished could have happened without your help!!
Thank you to the trucking companies that stayed for years! A part of this crazy industry everyone forgets about all too often!! Your product isn’t going anywhere without them!!! Boynton Construction, Perkins Transport,Harbor Motor,Merril, and Cape Porpoise and probably others I have forgotten.
Thank you to my suppliers! Many over the years.! They all work so hard and continue to do so. Some, fishermen like yourselves, some larger companies with the same problems as all of us. Just a few Cape Seafoods, Margaret F Inc, Kingfisher BaitArk Bait,Maine Salt and the past ones Peter Mullen, Providian, Beaver , Ohara Coffins D ONeill,Oceanview,BRT, Western Sea, Paul Palino. Oh my, a walk down memory lane for sure!!
Finally , thank you for all the loyal customers !! They have come and gone and some stayed for all of it !! Especially my home boys! Oh my I thought I could do this without crying. … Watsons Store , Hawkes Lobster, Durant Lobster,Quahog Lobster,Glens Lobster ,Whidden Lobster, Clemmons, Interstate Lobster… Soo many others even in town just not as of late, but none the less appreciated!!!! I love you all and will miss you.
There are so many others out of town and I really want you to know you were ALL appreciated so much. I hope you can look back and say, she didn’t just take our money, she did care.. I did, and still do but, it is time to move on. Maybe ride my horse, play with my Grandkids before they do not want to, travel, and just have time to breathe!
There is not enough room to express the way I feel.. It has been a bitter sweet experience to stop doing something that has MORE than consumed my life for so many years. I wish you all great things! Happy Fishing! Please try to stick together as an industry.. The Fishing Industry, not just the lobster industry.. You all NEED each other ! Hugs The ONE and ONLY Bait Bitch !!!
