"I found that we needed training. Integration without preparation is frustration." Rev. Leon Sullivan was a social activist who focused on self-help and revitalization to overcome barriers of poverty and oppression. His legacy includes the Philadelphia OIC, Historic Sullivan Progress Plaza since 1968 and Zion Baptist Church of Philadelphia which continues to be amazing resources for the North Broad community.

August is Black Philanthropy Month and we are still celebrating in Philly. Therefore, please check out the article posted by The Philadelphia Citizen today highlighting Black Philanthropy and Black collective giving in Philly featuring our Philadelphia Black Giving Circle. Much thanks to reporter Katherine Rapin for featuring our and highlighting the revolutionary work of Rev Dr Leon H Sullivan and Historic Sullivan Progress Plaza since 1968 as a successful Black collective giving model in our local community and the nation. The correct narrative should be, that Black folks have ALWAYS been on the supply side of philanthropy, and not just the demand side. Yes, !
