Today we traded cinnamon rolls for roller skates 🛼❤️

The kids were excited from the minute we pulled into the parking lot, and honestly, seeing them have fun made my whole day.

As entrepreneurs, it’s easy to feel like there’s always one more email, one more order, one more thing on the to-do list. But days like this remind me why I work so hard in the first place.

The kids spent more time falling than skating 😂, but nobody cared. We laughed, made memories, and for a few hours I wasn’t just a bakery owner—I was just Mom.

And surprisingly… I didn’t fall once. I might still have a little skate game left in me. 😎🛼

Trying to keep these kids entertained during summer break might be harder than running the bakery. 😂

Today’s activity was skating. The girls had fun, I got some exercise, and I was reminded that my skates are still sitting at my mom’s house in Philly… which meant rental skates for me today. 😒🤣

But seeing them have fun made it worth it. ❤️

Moms, what’s your go-to summer activity when the kids start saying “I’m bored” every 10 minutes?

We asked the kids what they wanted to do today, and somehow we ended up at the skating rink. 😂

So while they’re snacking and skating, I’m over here doing what business owners do… catching up on emails, checking numbers, and answering messages.

One thing about being an entrepreneur? The work comes with you everywhere.

But these moments are exactly why I work as hard as I do. ❤️

Now the real question is…

🍉 WATERMELON MINT LEMONADE 🍋

One thing about my family—we love a good homemade summer drink!

I’m not sure if this one is making it to the bakery yet, but I wanted to share the recipe so you can try it at home and tell me what you think.

✨ Watermelon Mint Lemonade Recipe ✨

Simple Syrup:
• Juice of 1 lemon
• Lemon peel/rind
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 cup water

Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a boil just long enough for the sugar to dissolve. Remove from heat and let cool.

Watermelon Base:
• 4 cups fresh watermelon
• Fresh mint leaves (to your liking)

Blend until smooth. Strain if desired.

To Assemble:
• Strain the cooled lemon simple syrup into a pitcher.
• Add the watermelon mixture.
• Stir until fully combined.
• Pour over ice.
• Garnish with fresh mint and watermelon cubes if desired.

I’m having mine with a fresh salad today, and honestly it’s the perfect summer combination. ☀️

How many devices have you confiscated so far this summer? 😂

We’re only a couple days into summer break and this morning I collected enough electronics to open my own phone store.

Sometimes the Wi-Fi needs a little vacation too. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Everybody sees the cinnamon rolls, banana pudding, and cake videos.

What they don’t see is me sitting here with coffee, spreadsheets, sales reports, invoices, and trying to figure out where every dollar went. 😂

The bakery is closed today, but I’m still working. Wednesday is usually my catch-up day. Checking numbers, reviewing expenses, planning inventory, answering emails, and doing all the things that require way more brain power than I would like before my second cup of coffee.

This is honestly my least favorite part of the job, but knowing my numbers is what keeps the doors open.

One day I’ll outsource more of it. For now, it’s me, coffee, and a calculator.

Also… Delaware parents, what are y’all doing with these kids this summer? 🤣 We’re only on Day 2 of summer break and they’re already testing my patience.

Seven months ago, I made a video talking about teaching my twins everything I know so that one day I could step back and the bakery would still run smoothly.

But truthfully, this didn’t start seven months ago.

This goal started about three years ago when we opened our kiosk.

Back then, the bakery depended on me for everything. Every decision. Every problem. Every question.

Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours teaching, training, correcting mistakes, creating systems, and sometimes just letting people learn by doing.

And if I’m being real, part of the challenge wasn’t just teaching them.

It was learning to let go.

When you’re used to carrying everything yourself, trusting other people with your business can be harder than the work itself.

Today, I can honestly say the bakery runs smoothly even when I’m not there every minute of the day.

Not because I don’t love being in the bakery—I do. I’m always going to be hands-on and involved.

But because we’ve built a team, created systems, and put in the work.

Freedom in business isn’t walking away.

It’s knowing everything doesn’t fall apart when you do.

Three years later, we’re finally seeing the results.

It's milkshake Monday!!

I was trying to make a fun milkshake for the kids…

Then I took one sip and suddenly it became MY milkshake. 😂
